Let me clarify that I don't think it's 100% accurate for any of the religions it mentions. But it's cute, and it does reflect a degree of accuracy.

That's not too unfair an analogy, really, though the jab at Mormons could be interpreted as offensive. I have used similar explanations (about Judaism vs. Christianity vs. Islam) to friends who know very little about religion.

Protestant Reformation is kinda like George Lucas going back to fix all the little things he wasn't quite happy with the first time without doing a major retcon of the entire story.

Quite clever and funny. It would have been funnier to me if they had stopped at fan fiction and refrained from making the pointed (and undefended) little dig at Mormons, but then I'm a Mormon. Do members of other religions see anything in it that might be considered a derogatory about their beliefs?

No doubt. A lot of people, I think, find irreverence funny until it's turned against their own group, when it suddenly shifts from amusing to offensive.

Equating the "Book of Mormon" with "fanfiction" is irreverent but I still think its funny. Saying it "doesn’t fit with ANY of the series canon." is a rather pointed insult. I didn't see anything that I thought was a direct insult of any of the other religions mentioned. I'd like to know whether that's because I'm less sensitive to insults to relgions that are not my own or if the bit on Mormonism really is more negative.
I know, for example, that many Jews think the New Testament contradicts what is taught in the Torah, but the author doesn't make any quips about that.

As a (somewhat) unbiased atheist, I actually did think the Mormon part was a little more specific and likely to offend. It was also by far the most funny, and as a joke it's not particularly obligated to qualify its hyperbolic statement with nuanced facts.

I'll take an insult that makes the Mormons sound like they love Christianity over a Mormon sypathizer who doesn't think Mormons are Christians most days. I certainly do in this case.

Pretty close. I simply took a character that sounds like "he" and when a box is placed to the left it usually indicates the sound is simply being made.

I found it pretty funny. I'd think the Mormon part about "doesn't fit with any of the series canon" more offensive if people in fandom circles who sneer about things not fitting into series canon weren't usually a rather ridiculous kind of snob.

I laugh when people give Mormons a hard time. I mean, come on. Moses talked to a burning bush. Truly picture that in your head for a moment. You walk out one morning to get the newspaper, you look over and your neighbor's shubbery is on fire. Your neighbor meanwhile is having a nice dialog with it. Are the Mormons really that much more far fetched? I actually get disgusted when I hear someone of one faith making fun of the beliefs of another.
