We had our basement waterproofed at the beginning of 2009. It cost over $7K, and is definitely saving energy. How do I find out if this qualifies for the energy efficiency tax credit?

Ask the company who did the waterproofing, or some other company that does waterproofing. People who do that for a living (and have some halfway-decent marketing sense) would probably be using that as a selling point for their services.

Check out this site, and then do a control+F search on that page for "tax credit". Apparently, at least in some cases, waterproofing does qualify.

I'll give KPC a heads-up, he may be able to give you specific information.

Not all energy-efficient improvements qualify for these tax credits. For that reason, you should check the manufacturer’s tax credit certification statement. The certification statement can usually be found on the manufacturer’s website or with the product packaging.
