First off, I hate when things teachers drone at you over and over turn out to be true, but I have to admit I could have saved a lot of hassle if I tried my freshman year of high school, turns out colleges do care about that sort of thing.

Here comes my journey to college. It wasn't until the end of my Sophomore year I realized that I would have to go to college to follow my plans. After that I dual enrolled in my high school and a technical center and have had a dramatic rise in my academic standings. I have been in all honors classes for a while, but I just did not do the busy work they expected of me, and my grades reflected that. My junior year I started to try, and I haven't gotten off the honor roll since. I was the first person to ever get a straight 100 in an a certain honors history class for a semester, but in the end, a solid year of hard work doesn't erase the two years I lounged.

I did great on my SATs and ACTs, I had a great college essay and three technical awards that I figured would help me out. I got deferred, then deferred, then wait-listed. And when it came down to it I was kind of sick of waiting. So I did what most people do when they are sick of waiting, I did something. I found a continuing education program offered by UVM, normally not for seventeen year old high school students. After some long emailing sessions and finding the right people to talk to it looks like I am going to college, and with a whole 3 days of summer vacation before I start
[Dont Know]
I had to settle on starting in the summer, but I'm glad I'm going for it.

While I know my girlfriend had more than a little to do with getting me on this track. As a whole I realize this is an important step for me, it's one of the first things I am taking a big responsibility for, after a year of general Ed and some harder maths I will be fully enrolled as a degree student.

Having been at least browsing hatrack for half my life and over 1000 (collective, I had trouble remembering passwords when I was younger) posts I thought I might share. Maybe even some of you will remember the good old days everyone would make fun of me because of my atrocious nine year old grammar. Now I only have atrocious 18 year old grammar [Big Grin]
