Amazon has just won me over as a customer for a very long time. I dropped my Kindle getting into my car this morning, and the screen (surprisingly not cracked) was unreadable.
They are sending me a replacement for free. Apparantly drops under three feet are covered under their warranty. I am just amazed by this. I was just calling hoping for ideas on fixing it, or with luck a discount on a replacement.

that is awesome!
A few days before school started this term I called Amazon because my textbooks I had ordered had not arrived. They said according to UPS they were delivered three days previously. I insisted that they had in fact not arrived and I was concerned because the school term was about to begin.
I had brand new textbooks two days later, before my class started.

The other day, it took me, literally, over 3 hours to place an order on Borders.com. Granted, I was able to do some other things while the wait went on, but if I hadn't had a giftcard specifically for them, I never would have waited. Amazon has never done that to me.

Huge Amazon fan here, for prices and convenience and because they have freaking everything and because they've long had a permission-marketing attitude that I wish other companies would emulate.
Not always happy with their occasional bonehead mistakes, such as dropping all the gay-themed books from search results, but they generally respond to criticism (eventually).

I'm fairly annoyed with shipping charges costing as much as the books.

Are these new books or Amazon Marketplace books?

Aren't you a student? Students can usually get free Prime membership. I have it anyways.

I have it free as a student as well (even though I'm graduating in December). I've heard it's worth paying for though, if you shop Amazon alot.
I used to shop on them alot more before I got Audible. I don't do as much now.
