How are you defining "active?"

Posted by DSH (Member # 741) on :

Few posts kind of indicates less-(or non-) active participation.

A 'lurker'... like me! [Smile]

If we can get these people talking enough, we can laugh as they all start changing positions in the rankings.

Tom, you're not in the running. [Wink]

As "Jake" I only have 400-some-odd posts, but I'm at least somewhat active here as Noemon. Does that count?

Answer Mr. Orson Scott Card

but he's busy.

What was Mr. Card's question?

So, which gets more weight, the scarcity of posts or the length of membership?

On a per year basis:

I'm rolling along at about 26 posts per year.

If I'm reading that correctly, I think he's saying that Mr Card is the answer to the op's question.

Mr Card has under 2000 posts even though he has a triple digit id number and has posted on here within the past month.

Yes, but before that he hadn't psoted for something like two years. A single drive-by post does not an active member make.

And if I'm reading Noemon correctly, he understands that and was making a joke with wordplay. [Smile]

I think I'd be the oldest active posting member. I'll be 121 years young this March.

I've been around a relatively long time (since 2003), but I mostly lurk or participate in the Writer's Workshop.

I'm number 167 with about 1750 posts.

Just checking.

Does it change your post count when old posts are deleted? Cuz the board has been trimmed in the past.

No.

I don't think there's a good way to measure this. At some point "few posts" is going to crossover with "active" and you'll have your answer, but no one's going to agree on exactly where that point is.

I'm in there somewhere.

Interesting.

So... you going to clue us in on what formula was used?
