Should I pick it up next time I'm at Chapters? I saw it on the shelf when I was there today but my budget only allowed for "Drawing Manga For Dummies" and some other graphic novels.

What are you hoping to get out of the book?

an interesting and informative read, what else?

As long as you go into it knowing that it is biased against President Obama. I can't read books like this for the same reason I can't read any of the books Al Franken came out with.

Odd, nothing about the blurbs about it seem biased against Obama on the cover and in the review.

Well have you read anything else by Woodward? Do you like his style of writing, his personality? Do you want to read about wars that are still ongoing and in the case of Afghanistan far from being resolved? It just seems that would have been a good book to read back in September of 2010 when it was new. Many things have happened since then, you might be better served reading a book *like* that when it's brand new and those wars are actually concluded.

Alright Blayne, I'll be sure to inform Amazon then to automatically bill you and ship all their books that are currently on sale.

The question I was asking "Has anyone else read this book and would they reccomend it?" I was only interested because a brief look at the inside showed it to be possibly interesting.

As I am halfway Battle Ready by Tony Zioni and a similar kind of books I figured it would be equally as interesting, you see?

It actually looks like an interesting read. I take any book like that with a huge grain of salt until I see the end notes to evaluate where he's getting his information from.

To be fair to Blayne, I don't think he was out of line for asking if anyone has read it and if it's worth reading. He's shown a willingness in the past to read up on topics that he wants to know more about. The only place he usually falls short is in treating those sources with healthy skepticism, but asking us for info before hand isn't a bad thing.

Though, buying a book just cause it's on sale is a little silly.

Lyrhawn: Who said Blayne was out of line? He asked if he should get it. I was asking what he hoped to get out of it, because just like any genre of book, there are a multitude of things that people look for in a book. I was trying to tease those things out of Blayne before making a recommendation, as I happen to like Non-Fiction a lot.

Fair enough. I guess I've seen Blayne get jumped on so many times (and I've done it myself) that I interpreted your questions as belittling him wanting to read the book for not having done enough research on the book before trying to buy it, when it didn't really appear that he'd done anything wrong this time.

Guess I overreacted, and I wasn't even the target! [Blushing] My bad. Carry on.

I didn't find it terribly biased. Woodward has a perspective, but it's not a hack job by any stretch.
