All right, so maybe we haven't had the best decade. But you know...sometimes in order to improve a rowdy or fussy, or grouchy person's attitude and behavior, you have to take a leap of faith, and give 'em something they DON'T deserve.
Like pie. Pie is great. Pie is tasty. Pie can change your life, if you let it.
I have here a wonderful pecan pie, made by my wife's grandmother. It is not one of those pies you see in supermarket bakeries, with an inch and a half of filling topped by a few, thin, pecans and a crumbly cardboard crust.
This is a svelte pecan pie, with delicious flaky crust. The filling mingles righteously with oodles of pecans, a slender, modest pie that brightens the mouth and spirit of anyone who bites into it.
Come on. Open your heart to pie. Let the healing begin.

Why? Pie is nice. Especially apple with several kinds of apples
But there is chocolate cake to consider.

I'll PM you my address. I haven't had a good pecan pie in a while.
Hmmmm are strawberries in season?

Er...I'm not selling (or sending) pie to any virtual people.
I'm just spreading the word about how GREAT it is.

I think you should make an exception and send me some of that pecan pie, on account of the fact that it is my birthday and all.

The terrible truth is that I ate all of it.
Here's some virtual pecan pie-- happy birthday.

Doesn't Marie Calendars still have pie month where you can get pies on the cheap? I'll have to call them to see when that is starting again.

Happy Birthday! Tomorrow is my wife Jenni's birthday, and mine was on March 1st. My niece Logan's birthday is the 13th.

If this were any other forum, I'd be surprised that threads parodying a recently locked and moderator-involved thread weren't already dismissed as an obviously bad idea and not really engaged upon!
But hey, hi hatrack.

Hi, Samp!
And actually, a discussion of that exact nature has already occurred.

Pecan pie is great. Rhubarb pie has long been one of my favorites, too. Some people like to mix strawberries with the rhubarb, and that's OK too, but I prefer the plain rhubarb pie. It does have to be well sweetened, of course. It is good with cinnamon and brown sugar, too.

But it's pi day tomorrow! Even OSC finally mentioned it in the every day is so special column.

I haven't had strawberry-rhubarb pie in...geez, 12 years.
Now I need some.

A discussion is far from figuring out it's a bad idea, which I doubt happened.

You'll just have to wait and see, along with everyone else, I guess.
In the meantime, how 'bout some pie, neighbor? Some banana cream, maybe?

Tomorrow is Pi Day; I wish it came in a season when fresh fruit was available. Alas! Alack! Woe!
If you're ever in the vicinity of York or Lancaster PA, there's a family style restaurant there called Good and Plenty (not to be confused with Good and Simple, which is about two miles up the road). They make the best peach pie I've ever eaten. (They also make delicious fried chicken and stewed tomatoes)
It's too bad they don't sell their peach pie online. Their shoo-fly pie is okay; I'm not really in love with that particular regional specialty.

Today for pi day, my fiancee and I (got engaged on Wednesday last week...congratulate me, please!) have made the following pies to share with the students at my school:
