I love the show Castle, don't get me wrong. But the latest ep (Countdown, ep 17 season 3) had a lot of little things in that just bugged me.

A. Ex-military special forces are badasses when being interrogated, but can't hit the broadside of a barn with automatic weapons from twenty feet away.

B. Castle and Becket decide to try and take on aforementioned ex-military special force members with a single handgun between them and no body armor.

C. Castle and Becket charge off all rouge, into the mouth of danger, taking with them the only real clue into the whereabouts of the bomb, almost completely unprepared, and don't bother to tell anyone at all where they are going.

D. In the middle of that firefight Castle and Becket decide to run for cover into a cargo container turned into a freezer, which would obviously have only one entrance, which would be obviously lockable from the outside.

E. Once trapped in said freezer, they decide to cover up the dead body with a plastic tarp instead of use it as a blanket.

F. Instead of walking around to generate heat they hunker down with as much of their body touching the frozen steel walls/floor and wait to die.

G. The refrigeration coils, although prevalent and obvious, as they were just bolted to the walls, are never even attempted to be broken or disabled.

H. In the middle of every cop running around like a headless chicken looking for a dirty bomb in New York City, Esposito and Ryan still miraculously save the day just in time by pulling uniform officers off the search for the bomb to look for Becket's car.

I. Once again our "special forces" fail at combat, when the police raid the hide out, and one gapes mightily as his friend is shot in the leg instead of shooting back or anything else even slightly "special", unless they were in the "short buss special forces" that is.

J. Special agent Hubris gets the "extra special forces" to tell him the location of the bomb almost instantly by lying and saying the other special force member rolled on them. Earlier Esposito says, "You can't crack a special forces member!" Well, apparently you can, if you lie to them and are in a hurry to move the plot along.

You mean Castle isn't a perfect reflection of reality? Oh my god, I've been using it as research into law enforcement!

Actually I was annoyed at Countdown, too. Not as many reasons, but the fact that they basically had no permanent damage from the cold seemed off. Not that they can have their main characters losing fingers, but man. They weren't wearing gloves!

I did love how Castle dealt with the bomb though. I'm gonna go look up how "realistic" that was [Smile]

There have been a couple of episodes of Castle recently that strained credulity too far for me.

The episode Monday was cute, and fun, but man oh man it was painful how the documentary camera that the characters kept mooning at was never in the shot when they switched to a different camera angle. I mean, those kind of close ups are expected when you don't have them breaking the 4th wall constantly, you don't expect to see a camera man standing there getting the shot you just saw, but when the camera guy is a character, and just disappears with each angle change it really breaks your sense of reality.

Oh, and loved the Firefly references the week before! Directed by Johnathan Frakes no less.

Yeah, the SF episode was great. [Smile] Didn't care much about the latest episode though.

Yeah, the sci fi one was funny. Jenni and I kept laughing....

I thought the Sci-Fi one was perfect. Haven't seen the ones after.

I had the best Castle dream last night. They play reruns late Sunday nights here.

Last night's episode was fun, well written and had a great plot device.

But for God's sake people, a simi-auto pistol which is out of ammo will lock the slide open! That's basic hand guns 101. Not that Castle is the only one to get that wrong, but it's just so elementary and easy to get right!
