I received my notice today (really, yesterday but I didn't see it until this morning) that the copy of A Dance with Dragons that I requested from my library has arrived. My time is now ticking. I have three weeks to read it and get it back. BUT..... I just realized, I have forgotten half of the things I read in the last four books.

Are there any sites that offer GOOD, (relatively) brief summaries of the other books? Even a list of who died and how would be a great memory jog right now. Any thoughts?

I recommend the Song of Ice and Fire Wiki.

You've got three whole weeks! Just read the series over again.

It's worth it, I promise.

There's a few moments in this series that I never want to experience ever again.

I actually tried back in January to reread the entire series. I had no trouble obtaining A Game of Thrones from the library. I think I waited two or three weeks to get it. As soon as it arrived, I applied for A Clash of Kings. I was 7th on the waiting list... for which there was only one copy in the entire system! I am currently number 2 on that list, and number 3 on the list for the 3rd book. I never imagined I'd get this book before I got the other two, but the library purchased ten copies of the new book and still hasn't upped their holdings on the other ones.

Buy them! They're worth that, too. I promise.

Strider: Sometimes I go back and re-read just those moments, to see if they still effect me. And to stare in awe at the craft required to make them so effective.

SERIOUSLY limited budget. Also, a lifestyle denouncing the collection of things, even books (much to my dismay, I do so love books). It's always the library for me.

But things are so nice to collect...

Well, I hope you change your mind and show your support for the series once your budget isn't so limited.

Dan, kat's lifestyle and budget are due to her religious vocation.

Oh!

My apologies, Kat.

I wish that you'd said "No offense meant!", Dan, so that she could have replied with "nun taken."

Kat, there are a couple of different counties with good library systems in my area, and I have memberships at several of them for occasions just such as the one you're experiencing with the Ice and Fire books. Could you try a different library system? I have no idea where you're located, so I don't know if it'd be practical, of course.

Dance with Dragons takes place during the same time period as A Feast for Crows, so it won't really matter a whole lot if you do not remember what happened.

Although remembering what happened in A Storm of Swords is very important. There is constant reference to the events in that book.

Thanks for all the help. The wiki page definitely reminded me of some things. I'm also glad to know I can go look up something or someone if it comes up.

Because of my odd living arrangements, I actually have a card with five different library systems. Three are smalltown places with relatively few holdings (and almost nothing in the fantasy section). One is a moderate system, but it's the one that is hardest for me to access. The largest one is the city where I live. It's the biggest library system in the state and actually shares holdings with the county right across the river in another state. BUT... they just don't place a high priority on GRRM works.

Now, if I were looking for the latest Jodi Picoult, that would be a different story here!
