Hello, everyone. Many of you may remember ketchupqueen. If you do, you likely know that getting infants and children into safe carseats and booster seats is her pet passion.

She is involved with an organization that has the chance to win $25,000 from State Farm Insurance towards their cause, so long as they are in the top 40 causes who get votes. Facebook users are invited to vote for them, if they are interested. You can vote up to 10 times each day.

The details below are from ketchupqueen.

-------------------------------------

Hey, Facebook users,

Some of you may know I'm on the board of SafetyBeltSafe USA. We've had some really desparate funding crises these last few years; we're not as desparate now as we were last year (thanks to some unexpected funding from Toyota Material Handling and the state finally unfreezing a few grants) but we're still desparately underfunded. We'd love to do more community programs locally but the funding hasn't been forthcoming as grants dry up in the recent economic climate.

We have an opportunity to win a grant that could be used locally, to provide education in school-based and community-based programs and events, distribute belt-positioning boosters for lower-income families and other families in need, and otherwise help kids learn the importance of buckling up properly (and using boosters to fit the belt) and helping them get said boosters in Pasadena (SBS is based in Altadena; Pasadena has a large school district with a mixed-income population and the SD is on board with wanting to use our research-based, tried-and-true education programs.) It's from State Farm via their Facebook-based "Cause An Effect" campaign.

What we need: votes. Each facebook user can vote up to 10 times a day from 4/27-5/17. You can do all ten votes in one sitting; my internet connection is being slow and it took me less than 2 minutes. It does use an app but the app is a very non-invasive one- they just want to access your basic info to register who you are when you vote basically. None of this "access your friends, send you email" nonsense.

I would very much appreciate it if you would be willing to both vote as often as you can manage, and share with your friends and ask them to vote. We see so many kids locally whose families have neither the education to know they need boosters for safety nor often the means to provide them- this would be a great opportunity to do a lot of good!

Thanks much! The link is http://www.facebook.com/statefarm/app_376288832400015?app_data=Boosters-Are-For-Big-Kids

Thanks for posting, CT, and thank you for voting, anyone who has! We are doing pretty well so far- only a few causes have more votes than us- we just need to keep it up over the next 20 days or so so we can make the top 40. I appreciate it!

Thanks for voting, guys! There is now some uncertainty as to how long voting will actually go- I thought it was 5/17 (what we were told) but feel free to keep voting as long as it lets you. [Wink]

3 more people with the full 10 votes each will put it at 11,000!

I voted, and will vote over the next week. Good luck, and it's cool to see you around here again.

hey guys, I really appreciate your help on this. Today is the last day of voting. We really need all possible votes so we don't drop out of the top 40 on the last day- that would suck! So please vote today and ask your friends/family/colleagues if appropriate to do the same. Thank you so much!

Voting. It's slow but will go through. I'm keeping that screen minimized so I can just pull it up and register another vote each time between doing other things.

It was pretty painless just flipping back and forth every couple of minutes.
