Is there a good place to get free web hosting these days (like what Geocities used to be before they introduced ads)? For many years I didn't have to worry about this, since I had a buddy who would host my pages for free, but he got rid of his old domain name, etc a while back.
Anyway, I have a gaming-related page I'd like to put up, and for fear of students discovering it, I don't want to put it on my university webspace. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know about free, but you can get good paid hosting for ~$60/yr.
Hostgator is one. Bluehost is another.

Google Sites is free, though it's pretty limited. I'm honestly not sure what other free hosting options still exist.

Dinkypage.com allows you to create free websites pretty quickly and easily.

I believe Heroku has a free option, but it's much more oriented towards web apps than static pages, and might be more of a pain to set up than you'd prefer.
