Like the new Red Dwarf, I had no hopes that this would ever leave development hell. But the new Bill and Ted movie is a go. Keanu has even dropped some of the plot points in an interview.
I'm hoping it's a fitting follow up to one of the best movies ever made. The second one certainly wasn't.

Okay I'll bite, what good movies has he written?
I'm not against this movie happening, but it has been so long and I don't really understand how those character could make sense again. Bill & Ted are taking blood pressure medicine and dodging child support while not answering calls from the Princesses? A huge part of the duo is that they are innocent, they are not on drugs or stupid they are just childishly pure. I don't know how that works with grown-ups, and it would be disappointing if they rely on the same performances from over twenty years ago and it won't be the same if they have matured.
There is no winning option.
But within the year Alex Winter will no longer have to deal with everyone he meets asking if he is ever going to do another Bill & Ted movie, and if the flick is bad enough Keanu Reeves might replace "I know kung-fu" as the line most commonly quoted to his face. All in all I think these are valid reasons to make the movie and I look forward to watching the train wreck.
Although if it is good, Wayne's World 3 will happen. Oh yes...

Just because that god awful Love Guru ruined Mike Meyers' career doesn't mean Wayne's World 3 would be so bad. Besides, Dana Carvey seems to have only gotten better with age in my opinion.

Dana Carvey's stand up, or what I have seen of it, has been consistently great, and Meyers has an impressive work history, and needs to do another funny movie. I think what went wrong with the Love Guru (which i actually did find funny) is that he felt he had to be as over the top, and absurd as all three Austin Powers movies combined, for the entire movie, but in the Love Guru, none of it had any point, and you don't really like the main characters, and in the Austin powers movies, it was needed every time, it made sense, and you liked the hero.
But anyway, i will see Bill and Ted 3 for the same reason i saw Expendables, the epic suck, that will be too great to look away from. Though with a good enough script, Wayne's World 3 could be great, and needs to happen.

I think Mike Meyers is like Jim Carrey was in the 90s. His starring comedy roles rely very heavily on him being as over the top as possible and hoping it's funny. Whereas Jim Carrey could carry that for a movie much of the time, Meyers gets stuck in films with subpar writing and directing too, so the only element of the movie is Meyers's performance. And the films buckle under that weight.
