Hey Hatrack, It's been a while since I've posted anything. There's something that's been tickling my brain recently and you're the only folks I know of who might have some answers.

I picked up a copy of Pathfinder at the library the other day, and some components of it seemed quite familiar. I reread Hot Sleep and noticed two major connections: the planet Garden on which Pathfinder takes place is also the homeworld of Abner Doon, and secondly, the walls of Pathfinder's Garden are strikingly similar to the wall of Worthing farm.

I haven't found a copy of Ruins yet, but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts, or if OSC had opined, regarding these two works being set in the same Universe.

Oh, and this is probably more of a topic for the other side of the forum, but I noticed that it's dead as ever over there.

No, it's not set in the same Universe. I mean, I can't speak for OSC, but [i.e. I'm about to [Big Grin] ] he's doesn't pull stuff like that, and if he did it wouldn't be with a book as little known as Worthing Saga. There are a lot of similarities between the two, he certainly transfers over a lot of ideas. More so in Ruins. It seems to spring out of Worthing Saga and Treason (or if we're using the old-school versions: A Planet Called Treason).

I figured he might just be reemploying some concepts. I noticed the Treason parallels too but I couldn't put my finger on why that felt familiar until you mentioned it. I'll have to pick up Ruins and see where it goes.
