Absolutely loved it, and slapped yourself for waiting so long?

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

That is all.

If nothing else, they tie for 'best band name.'

Their competition being The Presidents of the United States of America. Obviously.

I just recently started listening to Muse and have no earthly idea what took me so long.

Heh. One of my all time favorite songs is Conscience Killer by BRMC.

edit: Muse are pretty great as well.

The...Beatles? Is that how you spell it? Great band--are they still together?

I did that for real with Pink Floyd back in the mid-90s. I'd heard a few of their big hits, but didn't know much about them or their music. Listening all the way through their albums from the 70s made me wish I'd been a fan from the beginning--even though I'm about 2 decades too young.

ETA:
Some of my favorite band names:
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult
We Were Promised Jetpacks
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin

We had Ella Fitzgerald, the French had Edith Piaf.
Padam Padam

I love Edith Piaf. I only discovered her after watching La Vie En Rose, but what a discovery.

I found Piaf while streaming Couer De Pirate, obviously I fell in love with each of them upon first listen.

I started listening to U2 after Pop came out and Radiohead after Amnesiac came out. Radiohead took a little effort to get into, but I really wondered why I'd never listened to U2 before.

For me, that would be all classical music and bands like Rush, Tool and Dream Theater. For whatever reason, none of them did anything for me in my younger days but as my musical tastes and knowledge have matured, they have moved up to the top of the class.

A lot of times it takes me a while to discover my favorite bands. It was 1994 before I found TMBG, I didn't listen to Tool until a couple of years after Lateralus came out, and Radiohead until after OK Computer.

I can't believe the president is a fan of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

I finally got into Neutral Milk Hotel, 15 years after their last album. Such a great album.
