Who wants in? I have a live draft scheduled for Aug 31st, but that can be changed.....

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Already accepted.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Quite a few people have, just checking on the draft day....it's a weekend, and in the evening EST to see if that will work....

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

At this point it's hard to say what I'll be doing that night, though Sunday might be easier. Don't change anything on my account though, my schedule shifts on a daily basis.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Just remember...even if you CAN make it, make up your list of picks. If something happens, like it did for me last year, you won't be stuck with Yahoo's list (like I was).

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

That old story. [Smile]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Can't find the invite -- can you send another? Superstation wants in again.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

you guys are in, so I guess you found it. [Big Grin]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Yeah, we're good. Superstation is trying out draft strategies. Not sure it's helping, since they're not IDP leagues. Is there a way to do an IDP mock draft? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Man I haven't been paying attention to trade or injury news at ALL. I'm going to have to do a day of research before I draft.

I scaled back from 3 to 1 league this year. Dropped out of my pay league and the family league was disbanded because none of the women ever actually paid attention.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Do we want to keep this an ADP league? I like it, but am open to suggestions....

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

I vote stay IDP.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

I also vote to add a flex position.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I vote to stay IDP. I like the added challenge. I also vote for flex. I do NOT like that challenge. Though it worked out last year...

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

What if we do a flex TE/WR flex if you dont want a straight back wide out flex?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

we had flex positions before, and they were not a good thing. I don't like them......but what does everyone else think?

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Make a gentlemen's agreement that we won't have an RB in our flex over 60% of the time.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

50%. You get it for 8 out of 16 weeks.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation says he'd prefer not being an IDP league though he'll play either way, and doesn't really want a flex (though my dislike for the idea might have swayed him). Flex isn't necessarily bad, but when you already have 2 RB and 3 WR positions it just gets a bit cumbersome. And trying to keep track of the "gentlemen's agreement" seems the worst of all choices (IMO).

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Well I'm not suggesting a flex IN ADDITION to those 5 spots, but IN PLACE of one of the wideout spots.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Agreed...2 RB, 2 WR, one flex.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I vote no flex at all. Anyone else?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Just finished my first draft. Not a bad lineup.

It's a little weird every year to see the same faces that did awesome in the past but all of a sudden they aren't top 10 picks anymore and guys you've never heard of are.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

yeah. I ran into that last year myself. [Big Grin]

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Draft is tomorrow people! Are you ready?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Has anything been decided on possibly changing the format? It's kinda late now to be re-strategizing. Maybe mid-year decide on any changes for next year?

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Lyr and I have been asking for a flex spot for over two years.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Honestly I don't see how adding a flex would dramatically change your strategy. You're still going to take either the running back or wideout ranked highest when your pick comes.

I'd still like to see a change and announcement tomorrow before the draft, but I understand with the foot dragging if it doesn't happen yet again this year.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

To be fair we are deadlocked on votes...2 for, 2 against. Someone else vote tonight please!

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

not changing it without a majority vote, guys.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

And Stone....3 years ago we HAD a flex spot. It just had every single person play 3 RB's.

Not a fan.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I can live with it. I'd still prefer a flex, but it's not even close to being the end of the world.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Is there a way we can know our order in the draft before hand?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

It randomizes 10 minutes before the draft starts.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Krath!

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I could assign it....but only if I get the first pick. [Big Grin]

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

I think it should be in reverse order of the rankings last year...i.e. you win, you get last pick, you come in last, you get first pick.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

As far as flex positions....if you are playing 2 WR and a flex makes sense, but with 2RB and 3 WR in play it just doesn't make sense to me.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

What Lyr (correct me if I'm wrong) and I were wanting was

2 WR
2 RB
1 TE
1 flex (wr/rb/te)

and we are good with the gentleman's agreement that flex is not to be rb more than 50% of the time.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

What the heck?!?!

The draft just changed from 30+ minutes to 2:20+ min!

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

And now it's five days, wtf?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Yeah we never wanted to add a flex in addition to all that but rather instead of one of the WRs

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Odd number of players, can't proceed?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

we are having an issue. Yahoo switched us to a auto-draft somehow. I clicked the "keep last year settings", and as of a week ago, we were a live draft, so I don't know how it got messed up.

I can't change it to earlier than 10 pm now, so I say we should reschedule. I say we make it NEXT weekend, so people can plan to be here.

Does that work for everyone? I am sorry for the problem, but it wasn't anything I did...

-Kwea

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

10 pm which time zone?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Also...we DO need one more team. One of my friends backed out now, and can't play. We need an even number of teams, so if anyone here wants in they get first chance.

THAT is my fault. He said he was in, but I didn't check to see he accepted and joined, and now he isn't answering his phone. Sorry about that.

I missed this earlier, but it's TERRIBLE idea.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Why's that?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Because then I get the last pick.

Worst idea ever.

OK, consensus is 10 EST tonight

But you would get the very first second pick!

Is anyone else not able to find where to go into the draft room? I only see a thing talking about how we're on autodraft again.

5 days until season starts

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Your league's Autopick Draft, your roster will remain empty until after your league's draft.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

this is screwed. I rest it to live draft , and now it's BACK on autodraft. We are borked tonight.

We can always do it tomorrow, or next weekend. I know we have a game on Tuesday, but we can always start our season on week 2, or include the totals manually.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

The only way I can do it tomorrow is if it's done around noon, EST. Otherwise almost any night this week would be fine.

I know. I've never had ANY issue with Yahoo before, but this is horrible.

Sorry guys!

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

We will be drafting Monday night at 8:15PM EST. It will be a live draft, Yahoo allowing,
set your auto-draft selections so you aren't selecting blind if you can't make it.

On Yahoo you said 815.

Is it 9pm or 815pm?

815pm.

I tried for 9pm, but it was taken.

Half hour! Here we go!

I'm in the draft room.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

And you are 11th.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I think it'd be fun if everyone voted for who they thing will win this year, based just on the draft results (other than themselves).

My pick is The Losers. Solid draft work.

I think Kwea has a strong shot as well though.

Everyone might want to take a peek at their lineups right now for this week and hit the waiver wire if necessary. Lots of people drafted started defensive players who are injured.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I can't even find the wavier wire in this new setup. I hate it...

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I think Losers, and then Lyr. I wanted the Danny A. Brady matchup, but you got to each right as I was about to take them.

Although the Manning/Welker connection is great too. [Big Grin]

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

well, yahoo grades teh drafts....and Lyr, Losers and Wolf pack all got A+ drafts.

I got a B, and Vash got a B+.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I just saw the Draft Report Card thing and it's pretty clever on Yahoo's part.

I might have gotten the best overall draft report, but Losers are actually projected to go undefeated this season.

Teams drafting 11 and 12 are projected to go 2 and 1 in the standings. I think we actually got an advantage because of the really really weak RB depth this year. We both got 2 of the top 14 RBs, where as the first two picks got 1/2 and then 23 and 24. But the dropoff in the middle of the second round is pretty huge. Still, having Martin and AP make up for a lot of that.

An interested draft. Really shows that a top flight draft position isn't all its cracked up to be.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

This year...maybe. Overall though it can make or break a team. Not every year is this thin.

I bet I go more than 6-6 though. [Big Grin]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation didn't do very well on his defense drafting again this year. My not being here really damaged that, and I partially blame the change of draft day (though I would have missed a lot of Saturday, too). He picked four players that aren't even on teams. He likes the idea of IDPs, but he sure doesn't put in the time necessary. He'll be making a lot of moves Thursday, I'd wager.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

There's a TON of IDP talent still on the board.

I see at least three linebackers left that probably should have been drafted by someone. He shouldn't have a problem finding top notch guys for that position. Though Lavonte David is a solid linebacker pick.

DE and DL might be a little trickier, but he has a great back in Patrick Peterson, just needs to move him down.

He'll be fine by Thursday night.

Posted by TheTick (Member # 2883) on :

I am grabbing some of those IDPs since I totally spaced on even trying to join the draft on my phone. LOL.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

The waiver system doesn't let you put in a pickup more than once. That means I have to guess which ones will go through and which won't, because I can't put in a backup. I don't like that.

(In case it wasn't clear: I put in a request for player Z, dropping player A. My second choice is player Y. I would normally put in a request for player Y, dropping player A. Then another request for player Y, dropping player B. This would allow me to possibly pick up both players, but if I only get one of them then I drop the player I most wish to drop.)

(If that wasn't clear, sorry, no can make better.)

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

First game is tonight! Make sure your necessary roster spots are filled if you have someone playing!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Okay Kwea, it looks like you made the right choice getting the Welker-Manning connection over the Amendola-Brady connection.

Monster numbers.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation better learn to shut up pretty soon. You can't be smack-talking so early in the game. Part of me is glad D. Thomas stepped up, though of course I hope Superstation still wins. I'd just like him to learn some humility along the way.

Heckuva start for you, too, Kwea. Amendola-Brady could still do ok, but I don't suspect I'll see anyone topping Manning's numbers this week. Maybe his brother will try to show him up, which would be good for Mooselet in his league.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Manning's numbers are like once a decade numbers. No one beats that this week. Brady-Amendola just need to meet their targets.

But if they want to put up monster numbers, I'll take it. Thomas owners got lucky on that last play, really lucky. Actually they got lucky on the other TD as well.

Posted by Wingracer (Member # 12293) on :

Anyone watching this packers/niners game? This is good stuff.

I don't know how your scoring works but if you have Kapernick, Davis and Boldin, you might have a shot at Manning.

Posted by Carrie (Member # 394) on :

How about Rodgers, Davis and Boldin?

This... this was a nice fantasy game.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Looks like Superstation couldn't pull it out, but it's barely within stat correction range. We'll have to see. Either way, good match. Sup's gonna hate himself if he loses because he pulled out a "probable" Brian Cushing.

Posted by Wingracer (Member # 12293) on :

Any of you have Garcon, Santana Moss or Alfred Morris? Week 1 isn't over yet and I bet at least one of them has a big game.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I have Alfred Morris and Arian Foster left this week.

I'm hoping at least one of them blows up to give me a little cushion. I'm still projected to win, but I'd rather be the guy 9 points up than 9 points down.

On another note, I'm cross posting something I posted on the HR league wall on Yahoo regarding waiver wire rules that has me pretty confused.

"I'm a little confused on how waivers work.

Don't players lock after they play a game for the week until like the following Tuesday or Wednesday when everyone gets a crack at them based on their waiver position?

I ask because I'm confused as to how Julius Thomas could be picked up basically the day after he played last Thursday. Should he have been locked, or is everyone up for grabs 24/7 unless they've been released?

Cause that seems to make waiver priority numbering pretty stupid. I was sort of saving my number 2 spot for someone exactly like J. Thomas, but if we can grab people whenever, why do we even have ordering? I don't remember it being like that in the past."

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

I have Garcon...me hopes he lights it up. And Floyd also.

Lyr: I'll cross answer:

"The rules section says:

Weekly Waivers Sunday - Tuesday

So I guess even though he played Thursday, since it was before Sunday, he was available. *shrug*"

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

That's incredibly stupid if that's the case.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Available to bench that is...

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Also, this game is turning into an utter disaster for me.

Posted by Wingracer (Member # 12293) on :

Looking like Vick and McCoy were the guys to have so far.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Great. Now I bet they pull Morris and instead of getting 10-15 points, he'll probably end the game in the negative.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

To my recollection, last year we changed it after week 1 to make any player whose team had played go to waivers. And it happened after a player had a surprisingly good week 1 on Thursday night, then didn't do very much the rest of the season, or so I seem to recall.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I think we should make that same change then. Whether or not that one case didn't work out for the person who tried it, it really just not consistent.

Posted by Wingracer (Member # 12293) on :

Morris got a TD for you. But McCoy has 171 yards and a TD with 11 min still to play. And against one of last years best rush defenses. This could be a fun year for Eagles fans. Sucks for me though [Mad]

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

You're still up. It's going to come down to the most unstable element: Fosteronium.

Posted by Brian J. Hill (Member # 5346) on :

Though I don't play Fantasy Football, I just dropped by to say I REALLY enjoyed the Eagles-Skins game. As an Eagles fan, there hasn't been much to celebrate for the last 2 years, but MAN, this was a fun game to watch. The best quote of the night came from Jason Kelce, who said that during the last two kneel-downs, a Washington d-lineman came up to him and said "next time we play, y'all gotta slow it down some." Fat chance!

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I will look and see....we have the same songs we had last year. ...I don't think I changed any of them...

I didn't mean to start Sudfield over Gonzo... guess I just didn't switch it back or hit save...

I was going to play Eldeleman but switched him for Sanders. Not my brightest move... that's what i get for listening to the so called experts.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

If someone is a free agent they can be picked up at any time. If they are on Waivers, there is a cooling period.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

And if you drop a player you can't turn around and pick them up off of waivers -- you have to wait until they go free agent. Or at least that's how it worked last year. So if you have first position on the waiver wire, don't drop a player you want to keep under the assumption that you have first call on getting him back.

I don't ever remember playing in a league like that. Most leagues lock players after their team has played. Other wise the waiver system would be virtually useless.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

That's not what Kwea was saying, I don't think. We agree that Thomas should have been on waivers, and technically he was.

The issue is that all players were put on waivers after the draft. Thomas was drafted, then dropped when everyone opened up on the 5th, so he went on waiver until the 7th (two days for any dropped player). After playing the night of the 5th, his whole team should have been put on waivers until the 10th, but he didn't (I don't know about the rest). So the waiver request that Vash intended for the 10th went through on the 7th. I think we all agree that shouldn't be how it works -- just that it's what happened.

Man, some big numbers being put up by QB's so far. Vick, Rivers, Rogers, Ryan, hell even RGIII are lighting it up today.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I won the wideout lottery in my other league with Garçon and Desean Jackson.

Some big injuries this week with Jackson and Rice.

Posted by Wingracer (Member # 12293) on :

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

yeah.....my RB's are not good at this point....

Waiver wire will have some good pickups with all the injuries

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Man Rice AND Gore let me down this week.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation has had a pretty good week, and still left points on the board. Unless Big Ben has a great game he still couldn't have beaten 200, though. I was gone all day, so other than knowing what Matt Ryan did in the first quarter of his game (someone told me), I had no idea what was happening. And no smack-talk from him? He must have gotten the message last week. But he could've let something fly this week....

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I'm convinced that whenever I talk crap I always jinx it. If I tried to take a victory lap right now, Rob would win via score corrections. I'll just quietly take my surprising win.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

That post jinxed it.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

It's gooona be a LONG season for me, I think...

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation is very excited about a couple new records, but disappointed that he missed the high score of all time by a couple points, which he could have gotten playing a different player. He'll learn to live with disappointment, I guess.

Oddly, three of his defensive players have predicted scores of 0 for this coming week, and he's not the only one who's had it happen. Any guesses on that?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Ok -- now all the predictions have gone to zero. They should totally fix that.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

They did...

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

That was weird for a couple days though.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I think my whole season was a head fake, and I fell for it.

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

I'm looking forward to getting my WR1 and TE1 in the game.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I wish I HAD a WR1 or any sort of actual RB...

Posted by Stone_Wolf_ (Member # 8299) on :

Bah. ..Wes Welker counts.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Well this week is a bust in both of my leagues. I came in fifty points under the estimate in both both of them, and will likely lose both as well.

Hopefully getting Amendola back next week will help a bit.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation did ok. Mooselet got beaten -- QB, 2WRs, Flex, and Kicker combined for 8 points. That ain't right.

And two WRs on the bench scored 41 combined. What a crappy week.
