You loved it

Oh wait I didn't, I knew what was coming and it was worse than a sickening crunch.

I also knew what was coming, except I didn't think his head would pop like a beetle being hit with a rock.

Now we have to wait a couple weeks before we find out if rich old men actually crap gold.

I didn't care about O in the books so his death didn't bother me a bit but I'm going to miss him from the show.

As for crapping gold, if the descriptions of the stench from the books make it to the show, the answer is no.

I can believe it. I'm literally a straight male yet even I thought O was pretty damn sexy and will miss him.

hey it just means they're smart and have good taste

in, uh, doomed fantasy mens

Huh. I don't watch Game of Thrones, but this has to be one of the most ambiguous thread titles ever. For a sec, I thought of the Law and Order noise, but there's one too many and that was more of a 'chung' anyway.

Whatever this is, it sounds icky.

I'd be really mad if I cared about the show and hadn't seen the episode yet.

Goodbye, sweet prince.

Ok, someone showed me where I could watch the clip of this thing.

Ew. Ugh. Yuck.

And I thought Hannibal was gory. Clearly I have been leading a very sheltered life. I love Hannibal to bits, but this show would clearly be way to much for me.

That was a bit like watching Iņigo Montoya being murdered.

This was a pretty gruesome episode - first the flayed man, then Oberyn's head doing a watermelon impression. The episodes aren't usually that bad.

I looked up the clip on YouTube and man, I just don't get it. It's so needlessly over the top.

HBO has some weird priorities.

I suppose so. But I think GoT tv spoilers have a very short statute of limitations. Like, vanishingly short.

Can't be, O is dead.

Aria = Inigo Montoya

Anyone that gets fried by a dragon = Juan Pablo Montoya

Why? I didn't give any names of characters OR mention any particular book, show, or media related matter.

you killed my father, prepare toSPLORT

for those out of the loop. (warning, probably the grossest thing I've seen on TV in a while, if not ever)

Yeah, I knew exactly what this thread was talking about from reading the title and based on the timing.

I decided to watch the clip in question just because. I totally got the Inigo Montoya vibe.
Also, I call shenanigans on

SPOILERS!!!!!

Tyrion being sentenced to death. The Mountain was mortally wounded, it's a hung jury!

I remember being a kid reading a rather gruesome statistic that 50% of duels fought with swords ended in the death of both participants. I think in this case, the fact that O dies before the Mountain does is why they consider the Mountain the "victor." (even though he's just as (possibly un)dead)

Also, this scene is George Martin's homage to the Princess Bride. It's very intentional. [Smile]

That statistic wouldn't surprise me if accurate. I imagine most of the time somebody died flat out, while the other died from infection, loss of blood soon after.

And I totally got the vibe that scene was in homage. Nice to know I wasn't off.

I remember it being less...explodey...in the books.

But it was good.

He was a nimble little minks.

I think in the book he just punches him until his head is a "ruined mess" or something similar.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

In the book, Clegane pokes out his eyes, punches him in the jaw, then pounds his head against the flagstones with his steel-clad fist -- just once, but strongly enough to crack bone.

The last smash ends with a "sickening crunch", and Tyrion vomits.

A fine edit. (it's loud)
