There's a pretty simple test for determining if you are allowed to be the latter — just take a semi-auto rifle, stand about five yards from standard human target sheet, and empty your clip trying to hit it.

If literally every shot misses the entire target, welcome to the stormtrooper corps.

I'll let you choose that one, Tom. Unless you're reading up on Spoilers from The Force Awakens that I don't know about... I'm not sure much has been revealed about the Imperial-era stormtroopers. Except that one of them is African American, sweats a bunch and is scared of something...
