Cross-posted, but just as applicable here.

Hi, guys. I miss you. I hardly have time to be here any more. I'm now working full-time, but still have all the other things on my plate that I had when I was working 10 hours a week. But enough of that.

The 2015 Promise Walk is coming up in about a month. I'm hoping to blow away the amount that people have donated in the past, so I put forth a challenge (on Facebook, but I know not everyone is there, so I'm posting it here, too).

tl;pra (too long; please read anyway)

I've posted requesting that folks consider contributing to the Preeclampsia Foundation through donating to my page for the San Diego Promise Walk for Preeclampsia at http://www.promisewalk.org/PapaMoose. I thought I would throw in a little competition for those who would like to take part.

I'm going to separate the donations into the following groups: People I know from elementary through high school, from college, from work (current or former), from online communities, and from church/other family/friends. I challenge each of these groups to contribute $500. Any amount helps. Skip Starbucks one day and donate $5. Skip it for a week and donate $20. I ask that you would dig deep down, be willing to sacrifice. I can't think of anything in particular to do for the team that donates the most, but I'll take suggestions.

In addition, if each subgroup raises at least $500, I will shave my head for the walk. I recognize that this does nothing for you, but it's something. I'd love to see $5,000 total -- I know it can be done, even though it's a very big goal -- but I could shave my head for half that.

This isn't a cause that hit me directly, but it did hit awfully close. Many of you know that my sister-in-law nearly lost her own life and that of her son from this condition. And hundreds of thousands of babies die every year, along with tens of thousands of mothers.

If you live in the San Diego area (or close enough to it), consider walking with us! Join the Camarillo Sloans team!

I'll post updates on the group totals every so often. It's still early in my fundraising, but so far work is in the lead with $325, and family behind them with $25. (I'm not counting my and my son's registrations toward the totals, but I'll count yours!)

Thank you.

Eventually my life may slow down, and I'll be able to spend more time here. I sure hope so. But I will continue to trust that our threads of friendship haven't broken. Thanks for putting up with me.

Current rankings (through 4/17):
1. Work - $320
2. Online - $120
3. K-12 - $100
4. Church/Family/Other - $25
5. College - $10[/list]
