Everyone wants to be able to load the stories onto their Kindles and iPads and iPhones and Nooks and such for easy reading. You guys should make it available, with appropriate DRM if necessary. It is totally easy to do, I did it in something like 30 minutes.

The archive contains a PDF version that is PERFECT and a Mobi version for mobi readers (like the Kindle) that is a little rough around the edges, but everything is there.

LE:

Providing the PDF is easy, but (Kathleen or Edmund can correct me if I'm wrong) there are some other considerations we're taking into account. For example, if we provide free versions of the magazine, what happens to all the work we've done trying to get IGMS on Kindle? That's a huge market (moving verrrry sloooowly, granted) that I believe IGMS can't pass up because it reaches a lot of people, and can provide some extra revenue.

It's not a matter of not knowing how to change the magazine into a PDF fit for mobile consumption, but a question of the best method of distribution.

I share your enthusiasm for the magazine, but would you mind removing your links? I think the publisher and other editors would agree that providing issues of the mag for free doesn't quite match our business plan...

Thank you, LoserExtra.

There is also the question of licensing, and IGMS is the one who has the license to make copies of the stories available to people. This is a contractural trust the authors have given to IGMS, and they are legally bound to protect that license.

From the IGMS Facebook Page:

Working now to get ALL the issues available individually on the Kindle. Don't know exactly when it will be done, but OSC has pushed it to the top of the priority list.

A great intermediate step between what we've got now and eBook versions would be to provide an alternate version of the website content that is optimized for viewing on mobile devices.
