I thought it would be nice to have a place where we could swap compliments and ideas about this place in a relaxed non-email type setting. This way we can feed from each other’s ideas (like piranhas) instead all stewing in our separate pots. Tell what you think about something. Tell what you like, or give your ideas on how things could get even better.

I will start:
I think its cool how the folders with the most recent posts order themselves to the top of their lists.

OK, that may be lame, but its something that I was thinking about. Your turn.

P.S. There didn’t seem to be a perfect place for this topic so, being an opportunist, I placed it in the most active folder.

P.P.S. Notice that this is not the “Compliments and Complaints For Hatrack” file. If you have an idea feel free to posts it, but there should be no demands on, or insults for, the management (or anyone). They do a great job!
(Not that I thought there would be any, I just wanted to put down all of my thoughts

Hmmm, too bad that they don't have the "Post Poll" option. We could just vote for our favorite thing about the forum (of course, you would need to figure out all the cool things about the forum before posting the poll for anyone else to look at, and you would be sure to miss something).

I like the way that this is all essentially public, so if someone didn't get something from you, well hey! it's already posted on the website

And I also like the fact that it's mainly devoted to talking about writing.

I suppose this isn't the most active folder, but my topic "Question: why so much activity?" in the Open Discussions folder of the Young Writers area may describe some of the confusion behind my error. Read it, tell me what you think, give me an answer if you can.
Question #2: Should I re-start this topic in that folder, since it is the most active? Your ideas, as always, are appreciated

Okay, are you telling me that you tried to post a reply to a topic and ended up hitting Post New Topic instead (which is not all that unusual a mistake), and then you're topic got posted in an entirely different FORUM?

Do you have any idea at all how something like that could possibly happen?

Actually, there's a singularity just this side of the "other" forum. When you glide your finger over the left hand mouse button just so, your post is squeezed through a worm hole and it ends up here as a new post.

I like that best about this forum!

Ah, that would also probably explain the several black holes that occasionally swallow my posts without any trace...but that's not something that I like as much as the way the forum usually works.

Err, not quite sure where you got confused. I put this topic in this folder, with the comment “P.S. There didn’t seem to be a perfect place for this topic so, being an opportunist, I placed it in the most active folder,"
I post this, then look up and think, herm… I wonder what’s up with the young writers group—I hadn’t visited before.
I check it out and notice that the “Open Discussions” folder for the young writers group is the most active and thus write a note here asking if I should put this topic there, instead, because it is the actually the most active folder. Follow me? My only mistake was in my commentary. I don't think there were any black holes involved, but I may be wrong .

Ahh...I get it now.

Hmmm. Well, it's a lot more prosaic than the wormhole idea, but I guess that's the way things usually are (and if they were usually exotic, well, pretty soon that would get to be prosaic, eh?).

Well, you'll get different groups of people responding in the Young Writers Group than you will in this group. There's some crossover, naturally as those in the young group age and as some of us in the older group hit our second childhoods. But generally, it's two separate sets of people posting.

It can't hurt to post in both areas. I gather that Hatrack (and all of us) feel very protective of the young 'uns, so as long as people don't abuse that spot, I imagine things can be posted there regardless of age of the person doing the posting.

As for posting here, we're a little less active because everyone here has to take their medication at prescribed times and that really cuts into our Internet usage!

lol, anyway....

An improvement? We've talked about this a lot on the young writers' section - more smileys and options and the like. There's someone - probably Survivor - who keeps saying something alone the lines of he knows how to fix it but he'd have to be more powerful than the admins to do, 'cause he'd have to get into the code. Since there's zero chance of that happening, maybe a) he (if it is Survivor I'm thinking of) could be given a copy of the code without the power to change it for real, put in the changes that would need to be made, and send it back. Then somebody could just put the changes in and not have to waste time figuring out how to do them....

That, I realize, is also unlikely. But there must be some way we can set up more features without giving anyone a whole lot of unwanted trouble.
