I don't care who you're planning on voting for (well, I do, but that's not the point) but if you haven't voted yet today, get off the computer and go do it now.

I'm going in an hour, calm down.

I already went.

Done.

I went this morning so can I keep reading or do I have to go vote again?

Depends on whether or not you're in one of the states that allows multiple votes per voter.

Done, and done. Not even a wee one with scarlet fever kept me from doing my civic duty today.

I do'd it! And my six-month-old was given a sticker too, by the nice lady at the polls.

Already been there. The place was packed. (Well, as packed as can be expected when you've only got about 350 registered voters.)

It's all over now but the breathless wait. Wish I could write suspense as good as this.

Suspense is right! I'm popping some popcorn for this one.

Already voted. Did the early voter thing.

Autumnmuse, you went to the polls with a six month old baby? You should have been given more than a sticker.

[Edited to gape in shock at Hildy] Scarlet fever? Gah! Hope he or she starts feeling better very soon.

Scarlet fever? Ack!! Hope your little one is well again soon, Hildy9595!

Did that about 8:30 this morning. It seemed really busy, although it was a different location than where I have voted before, so I can't compare.

I got my sticker too.

I am interested in the American elections.

I want to know who will be running Australia for the next 4 years.

Why? I live in Texas. It doesn't matter who I vote for, Bush is going to win the state.

Thanks for the well wishes. She is already feeling much better and isn't contagious (hence her trip to the polls with me). Antibiotics are wonderful things.

Yea, vote has miniscule impact in states that already have huge majority such as Texas... or on fence states like illinois/michigan anyone's vote has larger stake @@

Been there, done that.

This Ohioan voted early this morning.

I voted, and they weren't giving out stickers! New York can be such a cheapskate city. I was going to put it on my two-year-old before we left, and see if anyone cried "Voter fraud!"

*sigh*. Disenfranchiesed. What can you do. *sigh*

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Republican, Democrats, it's all politics to me.

Okay, now stop talking about voting and go write.

I was wondering when we were gonna get yelled at for not talking about writing.

How about this:

I "wrote"-in a vote for a Court of Appeals jurist

I was working on my NaNovel, then my husband came home, stayed with the kids so I could go vote, then came back to write more. Almost 5500 words... but I admit to be watching the election returns. Guess I'll be giving up soon and going to bed (since people were still voting at 11:15pm in Ohio, and there are 1.7 million absentee ballots still to be counted in Florida, I guess staying up doesn't make sense).

Need to sleep so I can WRITE MORE!

Congratulations MaryRobinette! Since you "wrote" your post, a record number of people have voted. You must have a lot of people who follow your work.

Shhh... don't let Kathleen catch you here.

Can I write a story inspired by this election? A few ideas have come to mind...mostly having to do with 1984 set in 2084...Is it ok to write a story like that anymore or is that just been done too many times or become too unpopular?

Posted by shadowynd (Member # 2077) on :

Give it a fresh twist o' lime and serve it up, Christine! But ah.. not until you finish your NaNo project! *G*

I guess it's finally official -- four more years of Bush.

I'd strongly suggest this topic be closed. It's a flame war waiting to happen.
