I am not quite sure if this belongs here, but it's the best place for it that I saw.
Apollyein.com is having it's own writing competition, of sorts. We have chosen our "gladiators", and are ready to duke it out with any comers!
If you are interested in writing against a competitive peer, for prizes and recognition, stop by and register!
Thanks,

Until I hear from a trusted source, I'm not even willing to click on a link supplied by someone who is so tremendously proud of their ability to play cards and yet fails to introduce themselves on the introductions board.
That alone is enough to convince me to stay away.
Who on earth could possibly care about beating one of your admins?
And why would it be difficult? Who're they?
OK, maybe I didn't explain myself well enough.
I'd rather not go into the history of Apollyein.com, but it seems inevitable that I will need to...
Way back when there was still a Young Writers Forums, I was part of it, along with thousands of other people. When OSC closed it down, I didn't want to let all those friends and contacts I had made drift away. So a group of about five or so of us all banded together and decided to contact everyone, and give them a new place to hang out.
First, we had a Proboards Account. After a while, a member offered to buy us webspace. We agreed, and Apollyein.com was born.
We started out on MBBS, because we had a Windows host. After a bit, we switched to a Linux host so that we could use PHPBB.
The Write-Offs are a simple competition to see if you can write competitively against another peer.
Admins have no part in this, other than selecting the prompts. You will be writing against "gladiators," the elite writers of the site.
The First Rights issue is one we are currently trying to find a workable solution to. Because we hop around as much as we do, we have a solid fanbase of about 20 members, and new members rarely stop by. We don't want to put off the new members, but we wish to offer protection to our current members as well.
MTGchamp is the name I used in the Young Writers Section. I used it again because I figured someone might recognize me.
I usually go by Apollyein or Polly.
I have introduced myself, but it was a rather long time ago.
I'll try to dig up the thread and link y'all to it.
Cheers,
Polly

Well, that's simple. Require registration and set the permissions of the forums where stories appear to Registered[Hidden].
That is, if you're using phpBB2.
Best of luck, but do protect your writer's right.

Anyways, several of our members have voiced opinions on this just this week, and, rest assured, they will be resolved today.
Thank you for being the catalyst in this change.

We have our first prompt answered by Vadon and Gladiator Grenye, so stop by and watch the interesting patterned blood splatters fly!

Hope it works out well for you.
If anything, it will be fun to watch me fall flat on my face

Come on in and judge!

Congratulations Gladiator Grenye!

Week 2 has started! Stop in and cheer on Gladiator Athena and TheFearedUnknown as they poke eachother with sharp, pointy words for our amusement!
