Another week, another prompt. My intention is that if you know the note is about to show up, you will quickly write something so you can say you actually wrote something. This does not have to be Monday when I post, but it should be the same day of the week every week. This will cover where you see the note and go "oh gosh, I forgot, I had better write something now." It is best if you write every day, but some of us have a life, or something in our fantasy worlds, that keep us from writing every day. That is why I am asking "did you write this week?"
My definitions of what is writing, may not be yours. In some cases, they are not even mine because I would have to count my story ideas as writing, and I don't. Any new writing, of course, is writing. EDITING IS WRITING! Even if it is not yours. Few if us can write perfectly the first time, and some of us cannot get it right after a score of passes. Poetry, article writing, blogging, writing assignments world building if something gets on paper, E-mails if they are extremely wordy and involves writing. This list is not comprehensive, and more as suggestive. I am sure you can come up with others.
There is a cold front passing through and it is supposed to get into the sub-arctic temperatures of the 50s here in Florida. I am beginning to think that if I do not write, I can singlehandedly defeat global warming. This is to say that No, I did not write. I do have an excuse, but that is all it is, an excuse because I had opportunities. I did my art show this weekend and that was a lot of preparatory work. I have a lot of work this week because of it.
For the final figures of last month, I posted 31 story ideas and ended on page 58 with 35,857 words. Not bad for drivel. I am already starting this month behind, I had to miss an evening of writing this past week so tonight I am posting idea 5, when it is the 6th. It is early in the month so I will have an easy time to catch up. In my compost pile, I have 43 story ideas. This week, I dug into the pile, using some of the older ideas as I was not coming up with anything new. I never like that. There is usually a reason for something being in the compost pile rather than posted. This weekend, I came up with six brand new story ideas, FOUR TODAY!!!. Those are fun days. I have something else that could be a story idea, but doubt it will be. It was more a thought about word play.
The art show was fun. I usually to good there. They relocated me from where I was for several years and I got about one percent of the traffic. Part of registration is you get a good T-shirt with the art show logo on it. If you include that, I came out even. I thought the art show was on Saturday, for some reason, and went there all packed up. No show. I do my woodworking at Mom's house. I went there and unloaded the truck, then set up some tables and laid out my display to see how things would look at the art show. That helped a lot as I solved some problems on how to display things. I eliminated several things that were not needed or as good for the display. Last year, I underpriced my stuff a whole lot. I changed all my prices and now they are too high. At the art show, that practice sped things up on getting set up. I had only a few things I chose not to show. I also had practice packing up so that also made that a bit easier. I still have to do a lot of work at getting things put away. This is one project that one loves to do,,,, once a year..... I do have ideas as to what to make for the next show.
As to the question of the week
NO, I DID NOT WRITE.

Yes. But not much on Book Three, which is what I tell myself I'm supposed to be working on.
I did work on revisions to Book One. Right now, I'm kind of working out some ideas for short stories that borrow or are recast from scenes in Books One and Two.
For some reason, Book Three is just fighting me right now. Forcing it won't help if it's not there. The frustrating part is, I know EXACTLY what needs to go into this chapter. For some reason, I just can't make myself write it.

Yes. Yes I did.
In fact, the past two weeks have been the first time in the past 6 - 7 months where I've actually set pen to paper (figuratively speaking). Last week I finished a flash piece and started on a second one, as well as outlined a short story. It's energizing.
I also helped edit a couple of chapters, as well as a book proposal, for a non-fiction book my wife is writing. A couple of times during this process I wondered if I am perhaps a better editor than writer. I'm not sure how I feel about that...

Yes, I did. I should've written more over the weekend, but I was working from 10 or 11 am until 11:30 pm. I did win 11 awards in the process (and still managed to write a little), but it kept me from finishing my WotF Monolith--and daydreaming of sexy half-fishes who had forgotten the important half of their bikinis (and had thrown out the unecessary other part).

I'm pleased to say that I wrote today. I wrote nearly 2,000 words tonight when I normally get between 500 to 700 words. I'm nearly done with the chapter I started this weekend.
I only have one more chapter after this to get to the point where my original outline started before I determined I had a new main character. I'm looking forward to that.

Not a word. But I did finally buy Priority stamps, bundle my last manuscript up in manila envelopes, and mail it off to a-market-which-shall-remain-nameless-but-is-one-of-the-Big-Three.
Not that I think they'll buy it, but hey, I'm just going through the motions here. I'll send it out to the others when it comes back, then put it up on my website unless something else developes.
I'm very hopeful of starting something in the course of today. Last night I had a dream...exotic setting, astral projection, malfunctioning androids, alien possession, appealing characters, nefarious plotting...and I think I can make a start on at least one scene it while working out the rest of it.
The joy, for me at least, seems to be in the doing. Or maybe just the "having done."

I finished the first draft for a WOTF offering. A sacrificial offering by the way... burnt sacrifice. That was an additional 8K words. Did a flash. Lots of editing, critiquing for others, and reading on writing. I have set aside my novel for a few weeks until my skills are a bit better honed.

I did work on it this morning...wrote up the dream and had a story beginning all worked out. The end is in doubt but the beginning works for me.

This weekend, I finished revision and editing of "The Warlord's Spirit" and put in the mail on Monday. I'm now three scenes into the next story.

I think so. Although I can't say for sure. Like IB I had a lot of hours last week or was it this week. I don't know anymore. I did write though, a little, rewriting a story but nothing new. This week looks better though.

Yes, I did. After allowing a short story to sit for a few months, I changed the name to "Leaves on the Wind" and added 1,000 words to complete it (though I'm told the ending needs work). Odal's Story (working title) expanded by a single page. I think I also critiqued two stories.

I got in 2500 on a new short story (hopefully for next quarter's WOTF).
I also (drumroll please!) FINISHED a novel! I'm pleased as punch. Now it's going to sit on a virtual shelf for a few weeks until I am distanced enough from it to go rip it to shreds like it deserves. :-)
