Always up for another challenge (Save for when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, mutilated, and then received a liberal dose of infection)
I'm probably in, I'll post in the actual thread when/if I decide to join.

Big prize. A signed copy by one of the greatest writers of our time! Don't believe me? Just read this review...
quote:Writers of the Future Volume 9 is the greatest anthology that I have ever read!...
...by far the best story in the anthology is Kathleen Dalton-Woodbury's Cinders of the Great War... we see a very bright future for her. Fame and fortune is destined to come her way as long as she doesn't bog herself down as an adminstrator for a bunch of ungrateful writers...

What! Where did that review come from?

Where did I see that anyway? I think maybe it was in the entertainment section of an old Onion Posted by Brendan (Member # 6044) on :
Do these challenges allow later publication of stories? Or does entering one of them essentially publish the story?

No, only the first 13 lines are posted on Hatrack--the whole story will still be considered unpublished; Snapper will circulate them privately by email to the other contestants.

Good question Brendan.
Several people have taken their story challenge idea and submitted them elsewhere. I in fact had a flash published from the old 13 line challenge in Space Squid sometime ago.
So consider this a good spot for a draft. You'll even get a bit of feedback for your piece.

Is this still open? I have a week off during christmas and I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I didn't see the deadline listen anywhere - but I'm pretty good at missing important details like that (and exit signs, and telephone poles).

Deadline is when the ball drops in Time square. Plenty of time.

24 hour notice. Probably a bit more. After all, I won't be monitoring my email at midnight.
