Great story! I laughed out loud, not at the Mel line, but at the "I was named after my uncle" one. 
And "all Christmasy" was a nice touch. Congrats!

Okay, now that I've actually read it...That was cool. I loved the parody on scifi writers picking terrible, impossible to pronounce names. Good job, Spaceman.
