How did everyone do this week?

I'm still struggling with the much-lamented Part Two. I do make progress little bits at a time, and I think I'm coming close to figuring out how to write the latest chapters.

So yeah, goals for me for this week are to keep plugging along, and remember to work on my WOTF entry.

Well, I reached 60,250 words so far (241 pages) and climbing.

BC, I didn't get to your chapter, yet--but, I will. It's been a difficult week.

I hope everyone is doing better.

Done with "Crashin' the Real" sent it to Dog Horn about ten minutes ago. Back to work on Harper Street, as soon as I finish wallowing in how good it feels to finish Crashin'. Yay for me!

Yay for Deb!
I did good this week, finished my chapter and pushed over the 60,000 word mark. I'm going to break with tradition and not have finishing the next chapter as my goal. The ending has been bugging me and I want to get it written out. So..

Next week's Goal - Get ending finished, or at least a good amount done on it.

Last week's goal was to write 13,000 words. I fell short of that by about 6,500 words. So this week, my goal is to write 19,500 words. Holy moly! I did finish chapter 2 though, so I'm making progress.

Last week I was so busy, but I was trying to write anyway and my brain completely locked up on me. It's only now letting me think Drew's name (my main character) without skittering away to something less painful. I guess it's not a great idea to lose that much sleep in the first week. So this week, I hope to do most of my writing during the daylight hours--or at least before midnight.

IB, I'm admitting before the world that I did it again. Every now and then, I get trigger happy with my delete button, and I somehow managed to delete your half edited story from my computer. I must sleepwalk to the computer and push random buttons. Could you send it to me again? I think you may just have to get used to this if you keep me as a critiquing friend. You are all forewarned.

Melanie

Congratulations Deb! (Seems like I've been saying that a lot lately. I don't mind though--keep the good things coming!)

I just checked, and I wasn't quite as far behind as I thought I was. I only need to write 18,395 words this week.

Congrats Deb! And to everyone who wrote.

Progress: I decided I’m not getting anywhere and need to Do. I read through the outline about a particular character and wrote a new 564-word scene (not in the outline, but actual text).
EDIT: expanded to 825 words. Not that I'm counting...

Measurable Goal: Write the next two scenes.

I'm thinking, now that i've got Crash done for a little while, that I might go back and do a new opening chapter for Harper street, which starts with the murderer stalking a victim. This is the crime that tips the detectives that all these single-case crimes may in fact be linked. Then I'll introduce the rest of the crew and the novel will proceed as before.

Okay, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things, but as I go through my previous emails, I'm having a little trouble hooking peoples' Hatrack names up with their email names, up with their novels.
So I'm gonna revert to our original format, with the addition of the novel title I'm working on:

Title: Harper Street
Genre: Thriller/romance

Former Goal Results: put everything for this work on hold due to unexpected opportunity to do a novelette for Doghorn.

New Goal: Finished other project, after having several weeks off of Harper Street, am going to try writing a new chapter one to put in at beginning which actually starts with killer stalking a victim, and the police tumbling to the fact that what looks like a number of unrelated kills is actually the work of a previously unrecognized serial killer. Then I'll adjust the following chapters for flow.

Chapter-Swapping Info: Need new chapters from Reagansgame, Satate and Bored Crow (i think) Novels are: Graveyard, Reagan's Redemption and one whose name I've forgotten about the girl traveling through the woods, trying to escape her captor. IAB, I still have a couple of chapters of yours, until you would like to send me more up to date material.

I thought I'd sent you chapter 4, deb, but I checked just now and realized I hadn't. Thank god yahoo saves sent emails! And YAY on finishing Crashing the Real!
Send more of Harper Street whenever it's ready to be read... or any chapters you revise. I think I read up through Ch3.

Oh, and IB: no worries about the chapter. Just send it whenever life stops annoying you. I myself have been terrible at returning crits lately.
(waves to satate and especially to Reagansgame)

BC, you never sent me the next chapter either.

My bad, satate. I'm terrible at keeping track of what I've sent to whom. :P
