Just two days ago I went to the Hoosier Horse Fair at the Indiana State Fairgrounds like I've done several time, and got to talk for a few minutes to Ms. Marks. She had a booth there and was selling her books that she self publishes. She told me she has a readership of 25,000 and has done quite well on Amazon in sales. Seems she's an artist too and does all her own book covers and illustrations. She's an accomplished horsewoman with a degree in biology. One of her hobbies is making long bows with primitive tools. She shoots too. All these things she's used to create her own version of middle Earth where her trilogy takes place that starts with "Elfhunter".

I didn't get to talk with her long since it was almost time when I had to leave for home. I wish I would've had more time, since most of what I just said, I found online yesterday. She really is an inspiration and gave me quite a boost to keep writing, start submitting a whole lot more than what I've done and go for it. Like she said; She's living proof that self publishing works. I also read that she lives with her husband, 10 dogs (mostly Welsh Corgies), and 5 horses.

Anyone here familiar with her or her books?

Strange how she'd never heard of WotF .

Did she go by way of Vanity press or POD and E-books?

But "Elfhunter" sounds very familiar. Unless it was another book with the same title I'm sure I have seen it. I have absolutely no memory of who wrote it so I can't say for sure if it was hers or not.

But she sounds like an interesting character...in a good way.

I'm not sure who her publisher is. All I do know is that she's not into online publishing. Also it seems her books appeal to the younger crowd such as YA, but she has fans of all ages. I thought strongly about buying the first book "Elfhunter", but had already spent some money and decided to let it slide.
