Reminds me of the Bucky Fuller car from the late 1930s, what was it called, the Dymaxion? Floated around on a ground-effect air cushion---but braking was a terrible (and unsolved) problem...

I have a friend who interiewed Bucky Fuller for his college newspaper a year or so before Fuller died. He got into an argument with Fuller about *geometry*, which takes some chutzpah. Somehow Euclid's parallel postulate came up in conversation, and Fuller claimed it was all nonsense because lines can't ever actually intersect -- they'd *interfere* with each other.

Now I have three theories that might explain Fuller making this extraordinary claim. Explanation 1: Fuller's spatial reasoning ability was so strong that concrete images interfered with dealing with certain concepts as abstractions. Explanation 2: Fuller had gone senile. Explanation 3: Fuller was pulling my friend's leg.

The government just banned the "buckyballs," little desktop magnet toys for somebody sitting down at a desk, and who's a little bored while waiting for something, to fiddle with while waiting. Theoretically it's 'cause kids could swallow them---but they're not marketed for or to kids!
