Welcome to the dark corner of writing. You wanna win the WotF contest but you don't wanna work too hard for it? Well, light up a stoggie and listen to what I got to say.
This is the other critique group. The ones over there wear thick glasses because their eyes have become crossed from staring at the small print, learning how to write better. Over here, we don't wear glasses unless the tint is so dark they'll protect your eyes from a thermonuclear explosion. That's right, no glasses for us. We'd rather walk into walls than get caught dead with four eyes. That's just one thing that makes us cool. Here's another...
This group is for shorter proses. The Writer's of the Future contest accepts a word count up to 17,000 words. The cool crowd has an attention span that max's out at half that total. So here is the criterea of joining.
1) All entries must be under 8000 words
2) All writer's must commit to critiquing other members of this group (if the size of the group gets too much, we'll split into smaller sizes)
For a loose time table, how about drafts get sent out early February, and all crits should be done by the first week of March.
If interested, paste and add your name to this list. (We'll ignore your glasses, this time)

Hey, I'm just wondering whether I can wear a tweed jacket (and glasses) by day, but moonlight in a leather jacket (and sunnies) at night? Last couple of quarters my opus prime didn't get finished (or did, late, but had too many corrections to make to finish on time). But I never got a backup in because they also need work. So this group would really be to review a backup.

I'm not but committed to reviewing. I may have to send in a trunk story, considering I haven't even givem writing a new one a thought.
Yes, you can wear your tweed jacket, Brendan. We're too cool to say anything - to your face. Behind your back is another matter...

I am, LD, haven't decided yet if I'll do two different stories, like last time, or just one between the two groups. Depends on the length of my second story I guess.

I think I'm out of this one, guys. I finished my story (~3800 words) and polished it up, but decided to send it to a different contest for new writers instead, since that one only happens once a year . With luck I might find out the results before the end of Q2 and still get to send it to WOTF this quarter anyway. If I miraculously have a new draft together by early February though I'll send it out.

So, is everyone still in this group? Or has the cool crowd cooled so much they are frozen? (Cigs don't warm us up enough, hey?)
