I'm new & introducing.

I'm working on a fantasy novel, which is a new thing in my life. I'm comfortable with other kinds of writing (scholarly, technical-ish, poetic, etc.), but this is the first fiction I've written since high school. A group of characters came to me a while back and started interacting, and seemed to want to be written. I hadn't had this kind of experience before, and had never thought, in my adult life, that I had a novel in me. I'm putting feelers into community both because I'm so green at this and because -- although I work well alone, in many respects -- I find groups of people help keep my batteries charged and creativity flowing.

Current distractions include Lyme disease, which I've had for going on a year (a draining and time-consuming thing, this)and children who should be my grandchildren (ages 10 and going 8.)

I live in Glenwood, Maryland (the proverbial good place to raise kids), with my spouse, two daughters, and three cats (two indoors, one outside).
