Okay, got another story set up at Smashwords. This one is seven fantasy stories with one flash bonus.
Took me long enough. I kept having the problems I thought I would have with the first set but it's now up. I think it looks better inside than the SF set so I will redo that one later in the week.

Of course outside is another matter. I used a picture I took. I tried various colors for the lettering but white was the best even though not great. I should have made the lettering larger but I was having many problems with GIMP and decided to leave well enough alone. I may retry this weekend.

I think most of the stories have better writing than the SF set.

You might consider trying PowerPoint and/or LibreOffice/OpenOffice Impress. They are page layout and presentation programs that make it almsot a no brainer to insert text and graphics onto a page and rearrange them. I have even seen bookkeepers and chemical engineers use them, which says something about the user friendliness.

I figured out the problems. There were a couple, one was easy to solve and it turned out that I was doing paragraph indexes without realizing it. I used copy all to copy my stories. That produced paragraph indexes between the top of the first page and the start of the text. Should have realized that when I saw all those paragraph symbols--duh. I copied each story the long way and it worked fine.
