Looking to get your name in the limelight? Ready for a challenge that is within your reach? Are you the type who likes to play games with children because they're easier to beat? Okay, this contest isn't that easy, but...
Golden Vision Magazine is a paying market. It won't show up on the top of a google search for fantasy or science fiction literature, but it is a fine publication with a passionate editor. Their payout is below semi-pro but is respectable. They do deserve an applause for publishing so many stories in each issue.
The magazine throws a yearly contest, but for some reason, they are having trouble getting submissions. They require a minimum of 25 entries for their contest but at this time have received a paltry 15. The contest uses a picture for a trigger (link sight above). The picture is a horizon shot of a flooded plain with two worlds in the sky in the back ground. A tree, some rocks, and something that looks like a floating innertube is prominate in the scenery. The challenge is writing a story (1500 - 3500 words) using the picture.
The prizes are based on how well you finish in the judging. 5 stories will be published. Unfortunately, I do not have an entry for the contest (the picture fails to inspire me).
The contest has been extended to Dec. 15th. I encourage you all to give it a try. I'm starting to suspect the lack of interest is discouraging Golden Vision's passionate editor. It would be a shame to see the publication fold as a result of a lack of supply, instead of the usual reason, a lack of demand.

I really like Golden Visions so I am going to enter this one. I have been already featured in one issue and I got to see that the editors are doing a splendid job.
EDITED TO ADD: Whoa, is this going to be their last issue, snapper?

I know of three people who have sent in a submission to this contest, two of them hatrack members. A idea sparked for me, a couple of days before the deadline - too late to get it together.

Golden Visions has their contest results posted, and it looks like I snagged second place! I'm ridiculously happy. It will be the first time I've ever had anything published.
