I'm an ebook editor at Cedar Fort, Inc., and we've just opened a new "E-First" department, so we're eagerly looking for new submissions.

Cedar Fort, Inc. is Utah's second largest publishing company. We sell both LDS and national fiction and non-fiction, and craft and cookbooks, and we are always accepting submissions, both agented and un-agented.

In particular, our E-First program will give us the flexibility to take greater risks with some of those tricky cross-genre books and the like, that are so excellent yet difficult to market traditionally. We'll also put a lot of effort into helping the author maximize their online and social media presence, to take the greatest advantage of the ebook market and create a following. If the book proves itself on the open market, we will shift it to a print-run as well.

It's not one of those 'you have to live in that state to publish with us' companies is it. I've come across a few like that.

Do you guys specifically deal with ebooks or does Cedar Fort do print too?

Cedar Fort has done print (hardcopy) publishing for years and will continue to do so.

We primarily do traditional print publishing, and no, you definitely don't need to live in Utah, or be LDS, to publish with us. [Smile] Some of our recent popular titles that you may have heard of include "What is Hidden" by Lauren Skidmore (a personal favorite), "Visions of Glory" by John Pontius, and the movie "The Saratov Approach."

The ebook program is brand new and we're still figuring out exactly how we'd like to run it, but we'd like our primary focus to be on working with the author to create a personal and active online presence to help promote the book, which is the most effective marketing tool out there, in our experience, for both e- and print books.

The submission form on our website will go to both the print and e-first divisions simultaneously.

Feel free to ask me any more questions, and I'll try not to let too many days pass between checking back in. [Wink]

I see they don't accept short stories, but do they accept novelettes? I saw the word counts for novels, does that count out novelettes?
