Well I finally drug my lazy but to go see Insomnia. I hadn't heard very many good things about it, but I had wanted to see it anyway - so I did.

It wasn't a great movie. The whole thing just gave me an odd feeling in my stomach - like I wasn't there and I didn't even want to be there.

I had been re-reading Characters and Viewpoints and so tried to figure out afterward, exactly what it was that turned me off about the movie. And then I realized it - it was the protagonist.

**Insomnia SPOILERS!**

As soon as the main character (whose name I can't even recall because I've undoubtedly blocked it out of my concious mind) committed the act of, not just shooting his parter - because I believe that it was indeed an accident, but lying about it (aka blaming Robin William's character whose name I do remember: Walter Finch). I realized that the whole time, I didn't feel right about the movie because the main character - the guy I was supposed to be rooting for - was not a guy that I wanna root for. He was dishonest, manipulative, and ... well... bad.

The only person I did want to root for in the movie was the female detective. But her character was so boring, so stereotyped, that she was uninteresting and I'm sure that a whole movie about her would be mind-numbing.

**End of Spoilers**

So, any of you out there that saw the movie that want to comment? Did you feel a similar thing? Did you infact enjoy the movie despite the reasons I've pointed out?

I just thought it was odd, and I was excited that I could apply some of Uncle Orson's advie

I did not see the movie, but your comments make me realize why I hated Thomas Covenat so much.
