Hey, are there any other word programs, aside from Microsoft Word, that I can use to type up the 13 line limit for posting a story on here? My MS Word isn't working for some reason.

When I have to do mine on my main computer (Word was deleted during a reformatting) I use Word Viewer. (Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003) I downloaded it for free at the site.

I've been using windows 97, but for some reason it's not coming up when I try to open it. I'll try looking at their site. thanks!

RoughDraft is a good and free word processor. Just google it and you will find a link.

You should have Wordpad already installed under the Accesories menu

For this, Notepad will also work fine.

I second RoughDraft. I do most of my writing there rather than in Word.

Or you could just do your best and let me shorten it for you. So many people end up doing that anyway that I'm beginning to get used to it (instead of cringing every time).

Kathleen, there have been a couple times where I KNOW I've formatted to 13 lines, Courier 12 point font, 1 inch margins, and you still edit my post. Oh well. Obviously something gets shifted with the cut and paste process.

If the webmaster could change the size of the TEXTAREA for replies to use "ROWS=13 COLS=65" instead of "ROWS=10 COLS=45", then anything that fit into the textbox without scrolling would be 13 lines. (Of course, that wouldn't take indentation for paragraphs into account, but it would be close enough.)

Autumnmuse, I am really sorry about that. I realized that I was using the European-paper-size version of the ones HSO gave me and that size paper is narrower.

I've changed to the 8.5x11 paper size when I check the 13 lines now.

Eric, that is a GREAT idea. I'll ask the webmaster about changing that right away. Thanks.

I second OpenOffice.

But for the purposes of 13 lines, Wordpad or Notepad are fine too.

Gee...I just typed it out again on this same kind of reply box. Any kind of major pasting job is probably beyond me.
