Lately I haven't being motivated to write, I don't know why I just can't write. I force myself to, write for about an hour before I give up. Maybe it could be me knowing my writing isn't the best it could be, or I feel that I shouldn't be a writer, I don't really know.
But last night our of extreme boredom and not being able to sleep, I turned on my computer, opened MS Word, turned some music on and began to write. As for part of the boredom I changed the font, size and bolded the text. Without really realising, I was intrigued by the font that with the more I wrote the more I was motivated.
The font was Bookman Old Style, I think, size 10 and bolded. For some reason it just made me write, and within 2-3 hours I had written what I would normally write in one sitting, about 3k-4k words.
Sounds weird, but if it gets me to write, then why not?

Yeah, that'll work, sometimes. Right now I'm using New Courier, bold, 12-point, and it's been working for a while. I find it'll work until it doesn't, then I'm back to Times, or Ariel....whatever makes it look more interesting, and keeps my eye on the page.

Leigh, I think that is a way cool idea. I'm in favor of anything that works.
I'd be inclined to speculate on why it works, but that might be analytical enough to hinder the effect, so I won't.
I am almost sorry that I just put out the last issue of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Workshop newsletter (issue #300), because an article on using that to bust a writers block would be way cool.

So I'm not the only one who did or does it? Nice to know that.
Kathleen, why not put the article in the next issue? And I also don't mind sharing ideas as every idea helps another person create ideas, that's what I believe anyway.
