From CNN.com:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/ptech/01/25/sms.novel.ap/index.html

quote:
HELSINKI, Finland (AP) -- A novel whose narrative consists entirely of mobile phone text messages has been published in Finland.

"The Last Messages" tells the story of a fictitious information-technology executive in Finland who resigns from his job and travels throughout Europe and India, keeping in touch with his friends and relatives only through text messages.

His messages, and the replies -- roughly 1,000 altogether -- are listed in chronological order in the 332-page novel written by Finnish author Hannu Luntiala.

...now I've seen everything!

I can't honestly say i would be remotely tempted to read that. It actually sounds a little painful to read.

Yawn.

Now, if you wrote your novel in yarn hanging from trees in an apple orchard, I might pay to see it.

Yeah, not something I'd want to read.

A waste of time and, of course, money. Who would be bothered to do that? Yeah, it's something that may not have been done before but who would read it? Who would even consider reading the blurb about someone elses experiences? I wouldn't, that's for sure.

I suppose it is an innovative idea, and it did work. I really dislike that person who got published now.

Why so negative? How is this different from a story that consists of diary entries?

Yeah, okay, that would do it. Realism should probably lose to readability in this case.

Is it in English or Finnish (with pending English translation)? And if the latter, wouldn't that be a hard thing to do!

LOL--you know, other than the obvious problems with the text, it isn't a subject that looks interesting. It'd be like Emeril doing a ccokbook, but strictly in E-bonics.
