Does anybody know of any writers workshop sites or anything with a focus on horror or dark/weird stories? I write a lot of that sort of thing, and I know its not very well liked here on Hatrack (I posted a fragment in F&F almost 3 days ago and it hasn't had a single response.)

I like to broaden my horizons so any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm getting ready to write something horror-ful myself and am also interested in the same question.

What makes a horror story horror-ful? In my grown-up life I haven't found a single movie/book that would make me shrink back in terror.

A lot of it depends on whether your talking about horror as a concept or horror as a genre. Either way its pretty fuzzy. If you'd like, email me and we can discuss it and perhaps crit each others horror oriented projects.

Absolute Write Water Cooler has fora focused on horror. (They also have Historical, Western, Mainstream/Contemporary/Literary, Mystery/Suspence/Thriller, Sci-fi/Fantasy, Religious, Romance/Chick Lit, Erotica, Humor, Biography/Autobiography/Memoirs, Animals/Nature, and Sports and Fitness.)

"SYW" fora are the "Show Your Work" (or critique) fora.

Hey, Merlion-Emrys! Maybe you could check out www.legendfire.com

That's where I've been lately. Somehow I ended up buying the community and now I'm admin and moderator there. We take all genres, and I'm a sucker for dark/weird tales. Since we're not as big as Hatrack, response times may be a bit slower, but we'd be glad to have you and your weird stories.

I'm not opposed to reading horror stuff. I'll post in your thread on the F&F board to make it official.
