Um... not tape. Does anyone know if this has been read into electronic media yet? It helps me to absorb things if I get them in more than one format. A little bit of dyslexia - or something. I may read it out loud to myself if nothing else. Thanks!

I started recording it myself but my voice gave out. I think I have some allergies right now so I may try again later. I think I have a low level learning disability, I have to learn things by repetition and by different routes. So it's useful to me to read it and to listen to it and if I am being tested on something, to WRITE it, too.
Meanwhile my husband sits down and reads technical manuals just the one time. bleagh I guess this stuff is technical, too, it just doesn't feel like it. I mean, it's still interesting.

I read writing books with a notepad and pen. I remember things by writing them down, so the process of taking notes helps me a lot. I also like the feel of ink on paper (most of my writing writing I do on a computer because I type fast and can keep up with my head on the keyboard.)
I may not ever look at my notes again, but just the act of TAKING them helps me remember things.
I also find that with writing books, I need to read just a section or chapter at a time, then try out the things I learned in the book on a story or in editing something for a bit, then read another chapter. It usually takes me AGES to read a book on writing, but by the time I am finished I feel like I"ve really internalized the lessons. I hope some of this helps. Good luck to you!
