Did You Write? 12-20-10

This is the place to brag about your accomplishments, cry about your failures, and otherwise tell about what is going on in your life.

For those of us who don't write often, this note is to entice everybody to write, at least some time during the week. We know the note is coming up and one wants to report what has happened in the week, so one opens some work in progress.
Even if that is all that actually happens, is not bad, but if one works on it, that much is better. A little writing each week amount to a lot of writing by the end of the year. This is especially important to those of us who writes once every couple months.

I list what writing is in most of these notes, but am short on time. Just check the earlier notes to see a suggested, but possibly incomplete list of what can be writing. If you have to ask, the answer is yes it is writing.

I have had a very busy and late days the past few days and had not been able to work on my work in progress. I am trying to cut down the word count to fit into a publication. I stopped with a rather jumbled scene as I was swapping action around. It bugs me but I have not had a chance to get to it. As I was, I only removed 1519 words. Another twelve thousand to go.

On the story idea front, Ideas suddenly flowed in this week. I don't have time to do a full count, but not counting the ones I posed, I have 13 brand new story ideas on my compost pile. they are too fresh to sink yet, and feel like all might be post-able right now. I love weeks like this.

I somehow got my first batch of Christmas cards done, and more than enough new ornaments completed. Tomorrow I will ship out the last of my stuff to be mailed. I now have to make a new batch of Christmas cards and wrap a bunch of things. Considering I did not start wrapping until Christmas Eve last year, I am doing well. I also painted my second batch of cards on Christmas eve. For once, I planned ahead.

As to the Question of the week,

YES I DID WRITE

DID YOU WRITE?

Yes I did. Mostly revisions, still. Although the revision on DREAMER'S ROSE also includes some new material.

Critiques, of course.

And two blog posts.

Started my next WotF story. Wish I had more time on it as it's really flowing, but you know, holidays and family and all. I've got it though. Once I've got it, it generally sticks.

Indeed I wrote. One blog post...my Christmas story

Did one letter to the editor and they published it today.

Wrote a query letter for the challenge.

Did some revising on my story to WotF Q1 while formatting it correctly.

Wrote some notes here.

and worked on "Bright Lights and Chaos" new ending.

and worked on "Storm Born"

And I think I did a tiny bit of work on "New Mage On The Block". I need to get back into the habit of working on that one. I'm behind.

My revision work of the week before pretty much shut down with the duties of impending Christmas rising to fill my time. I hope to resume work shortly---if not Christmas day, then shortly thereafter.

Took a week off from work last week to catch up on things in my life other than writing, but I did manage to type a few words. In particular...while doing battle with the YA novel, I began piecing together the short story series based on the same world. At this point, it's quite possible that some of the short stories will get published before the novel. That wasn't the original plan, but it's not like I'm gong to fight it.

Got stuck into a new novel which should keep me busy for a bit

It's that busy period at work though, the last few days before we knock for for Christmass, so not a lot getting written at the moment.
