Almost tempted to try for it. At least it's on my side of the country, so many workshops aren't. But there's still that personal problem and the money it would take to miss four weeks of work. Two would be paid for.
Plus I haven't heard of those writers, even though I checked out their blogs. They sound good, except for two that I never found a list of books for.
And I must say that I am tempted to try out just to see if I would make it in, but that's unfair to everyone involved so I must decline that temptation- Naughty Muse Naughty, we will have no more of that from you.
And I add that this temptation is true for any workshop.

Hmm, must be getting it mixed up with another workshop. I thought the usual one was back east or somewhere in the middle states.
But I know they are six weeks, Obviously didn't say it clear enough. I would have to pay for only four of those six weeks, the last two are already paid for. I mean the time off from work is paid for like that.

As a graduate of Michigan State I think the move to San Diego was a no brainer even though MSU is gorgeous during the summer.

The "tricky" part will be getting a visa but if you're from a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program then you are allowed into the US for 90 days for tourism or business without needing a Visa. Since it is a writer's workshop I think it might qualify as "business." If it is considered "studying" in the US, then you would need a student visa. My best advice would be to contact the organizers just to make sure.
