Seems my googling skills need some brushing up.

Can someone help me out here?

Although apparently, Fantasy Magazine and Lightspeed are getting ready to merge.

This list needs updating.

Daily Science Fiction was added in Sept.

I believe Brutarian and Dragon are dead markets and Flash Online I hear is likely headed that way (they haven't accepted anything new in a very long time)

Snapper:

with respect to DSF:

I see this fact claimed on wikipedia and on http://robertlowellrussell.blogspot.com/2011/09/congrats-to-daily-science-fiction-for.html and on http://louantonelli.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

but I do not see this fact anywhere on the SFWA or DSF web sites or locus

I am not doubting that you are right, just wondering if there is some secret news source I need to know about

Yes, there is. News about the SFWA Board's vote in favor of DSF as a qualifying market was posted in the SFWA online forum, which is limited to members of SFWA. Eventually, they'll get around to updating the official list on the public site.

Evidently Flash Fiction Online is accepting submissions again. There has been a change in management.

From their website:

quote:
Flash Fiction Online has reopened for submissions under the leadership of Suzanne Vincent, with the expectation of resuming publishing in January.

Also, if I'm interpreting things right, it looks like Dark Wisdom has been closed to subs since '07.

And Cemetery Dance, as I remember, said in '09 they were closing till late '10, now in '10 they say the end of '11 which is basically here...

Flash Fiction Online is indeed open to subs and reading slush like crazy. We're averaging somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 subs a day--a slushpile avalanche.

Our next issue will be published the first week of January, and things are on track to maintain a monthly webzine, and to expand our little empire.

I hope to see you all in the slushpile.

Suzanne V.

If I can get around to revising my newest Flash stories you will see some of mine.

Of course seeing and being impressed with them are two different things.
