I've just signed up and I'm not really sure what all the fuss is about. I elected to follow a couple of online magazines and was suddenly buried in tweets.

Anyway, you can find me here: http://www.twitter.com/PDBlake

Anyone else on there?

Yep, I'm KarenTSmith there, but I mainly just push my blog links through. And I'm way behind on my blog. [Wink]

KatDWoodbury on Twitter. Mostly use it to post status updates on Facebook, since my status updates are only about as long as a tweet anyway. Reaches two sites at once.

(Need to figure out how to make better use of Twitter, which I hear can be done to writerly advantage--one of these days--in my copious spare time, that is.)

Twitter is good and bad, like just about everything. It is fun to follow some famous people. You can see what they're up to. Alan Tudyk is hilarious. He pops in about once a day with a one liner that cracks me up.
I also follow HHDL. If you don't know who that is, then you obviously don't follow him. [Razz]
My tweets are worthless, but I follow a few writers, and get some good links to info once in a while.
Basically, it's harmless, and a little fun, so I doth it.

Axeminister - on twitter - of course.

I'm on it, but don't really use it much lately, and frankly, it's more of a cell phone thing than anything else, which since I'm one of the five people who don't have a cell phone means my tweeting is from my pc and infrequent. Still, I used to use it often to let people know about my articles I wrote.

I've followed some of you, I think:D

Not really sure what I'm doing there or how much use it is as a tool to push my blog, site and books though.

Really can't see how people will see my tweets amongst the gazillions that are there.

I am tweeting Brull (the character of my only e-book offering) on Twitter. It's an ongoing story. I'm still not sure if it will work. I'm now up to two followers and one is my brother.

Not even sure of how to post something on Facebook. I've never even seen Twitter. Maybe with time...

Thought I would add my comment.

No, I'm not on Twitter. At this point I don't see any reason to be. I had one fan that I knew of but he's probably forgotten about me by now.

I don't subscribe either; I don't have a cell phone and don't want to take the time to read any twits on my main computer, I need the time for writing and doing this forum.

There are a couple of writers I wouldn't receiving a twit from when their next book comes out but that would be it right now.

Of course if I ever sell another couple of stories or get a novel published one way or another I could change my mind about doing twitter.

I have however written a few twitter stories. [Smile]

I'm relatively new, too, so I'm still figuring out what to tweet about, but I like following other writers. Makes it feel like less of a solitary pursuit [Smile]

I agree with Emily, it is great to get tips from other writers, and my followers have slowly grown from there. I have way more followers there then I have had Facebook or Google+.

Tying Twitter to my website helped too. I think it a great way to get attention and advice all in one.

I had an account (under "rividh") but it may be inactive by now. The main reason I bothered at all was I found someone was already squatting on both my business name and my usual handle, but I think it's a lost cause, Twitter being about as flooded with squats and spam as AOL and Usenet.

If there's something specific going on where frequent updates might be useful, like an election or an emergency, then I sometimes check it, but otherwise I can't be bothered. I get enough of the short-attention-span world as it is.

I have a twitter account, but I don't use it.
Most of my day is spent with patients and there's this "confidentiality" thing...

I was wondering about creating a fictional account for my protagonist Rabbi Jacob Cane. He has all sorts of weird and interesting things happening to him.

RJCane: Checked out the zombie deli at Harvard Square. All they served was brains. But good quality Harvard ones.

Dr. Bob, personally I think you should go for it.

Over a year ago I found an article about a writer whose character was twittering. I can neither recall the writer nor the character but I sent the link to about five of my favorite writers to see if they would take the hint but none of them did. I may have it still if you are interested.

If I had an ongoing character like that I would consider it. Personally I would like at least one of those stories to be published first but that would be up to you. You will probably get one published before I would. And if you went E-pub it might help sells.

Oh, a certain singer was cooped up in a cabin writing songs a while back. He soon realized he shared the cabin with a mouse. Before he was done with the songs the mouse was twitting under Cabin Mouse. The writer has no idea when it did probably when he was asleep.
