It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

It's been a busy week for me, with 36,389 words added to my August Camp NaNo novel, All Stitched Up. Still quite a way to go with that one, but a healthy total for the week and it brings me up to 40,589 words on that manuscript.

I did a a few blog posts as well, and a couple of things jotted down on ideas that are percolating in the back of my head.

How about everyone else? How did you do this week?

-Julie

I got my proofed work back, fixed the typos, and submitted to WotF. I then proceeded to forget that story and focus on my new work, Dark Crafte.

I rewrote two novels of my trilogy in the past week (150,000 words) adding about 8,000 words and using language cement to fill in plot holes.

I wrote. Not as much as I wanted because, like Terry Pratchett's Trolls, my brain doesn't work as well in the heat. Some on the first draft of THE BARD'S GIFT, some on polishing up the queries and first pages of FIRE AND EARTH and MAGE STORM for WriteOnCon (which starts tomorrow).

Also, a few critiques and two blog posts.

I managed five hundred words on Sunday---somewhat trying times, as I've detailed in the last two "did you write" posts. I still have a clear idea of where I'm going, though it's taking awhile to get there.

I wrote 1200 - 1500 of a new chapter, added 250 words to to a scene in chapter 1 and edited same scene - cutting plot crutch alon the way. Filled in the outline as more became clear - includes a lot of the character internal conflicts and their connections to the phase 1 external conflict. In short, finally some relief and better sleep as the character arcs revealed themselves. Primary lesson of the week for this newbie - writing what I've got reveals what needs to be seen and happen.

I've written about 5,000 words in a new manuscript I'm working on, as well as a somewhat ranty blog post.

I read a critique of my short story and am thinking about what to do, but did not write one character because I adopted a tiny abandoned kitten who was about to die of the heat and I was nursing it all week. After an overnight visit to the vet to get rehydrated, it is now doing great and has already taken over my household. Cats have a way of doing that. But when will I write again? Hmmm....

I've been on vacation all week. How that translates into getting less writing done than normal, I'm not sure, but that's exactly what happened. Regardless...I've written a few thousand new words, I've edited two novellas, and I've started transcribing the dozens of digital audio files I've recorded over the last few months and piecing together the world for a new science fiction series.

S!

Did I write? yeah, a little. It was a tough week, and this week looks to be the same. Work is going crazy. Days go fast, and too wired at night with from all the scrambling around trying to get it all done. But I Wrote, edited, submitted, rejected and Accepted!

I keep putting this one off because I'm busy----writing.

Yes, I did.

Nothing on my novels, still waiting for more feedback for Two Struggles. Still too hot to take my laptop to work.

A bunch of small stories. I tried for what I call a mini story-less than 250 words--but ended up a with four to five stories of between one thousand words and two thousand one hundred. I think I finally got my mini but it's hand written and I need to get to typing it up to see exactly how long it is. I did write a 50 words story for OnThePremises.com's mini contest. And a longer version of the same story. Somewhere between 200 and 500 words long. Again I need to type it up to be certain.

I wrote, posts, E-mails, revised stories, critted stories, write two or three posts here

And wrote a letter to the editor that was published.
