It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

Well, I finished the edits on Book 3 of the Mirrors trilogy and am now working my way through the second round on the first book of my Necromantic trilogy. It's going well, a bit over a third done. It's in decent shape, but I forgot how long the chapters were. Wow. Not sure if I'll break them up, but I don't think so. They feel right as they are.

I also had an older idea that I've had no luck getting traction with explode in my brain yesterday morning. Now I want to write that, only I have to finish the Necromantic trilogy and had another project I'd been developing with an eye toward being the next one. I swear, some days my inspiration irritates me, but then I go look at my notes and the stories make me too giddy to care.

Also some blog posts.

How about you? Did you write?

-Julie

Yes, I did. Still plowing my way through the first draft of THE BARD'S GIFT, but I can almost smell "The End", now. [Smile]

Also a couple of crits and two blog posts.

Yes and yes.

Worked on a few stories. Two at work on paper. A SF and A Fantasy. The Fantasy is a bit different with a leprechaun in a modern setting even the setting won't be a major "character". And it's also different in that I have no idea where it is going. I finally finished the opening and just came up with an adventure today. It could easily become a novel but when would I write it. [Smile]

Doing one I started by hand but never finished. I found out I forgot where I was going with it but I may have a new idea. It will be a shorty.

Revised one going out to F&SF this next weekend if I remember to buy brown envelopes. A streampunk-space opera story.

Revised my mini story--the one with the 13 lines in the F&F for stories forum--and sent it to someone to crit.

Couple other stories I worked on too.

Finally did a couple of posts HERE

Would have worked on my novel but only have received two first chapters and one second chapter.

A few posts here, on three other forums and an E-mail or three.

Well, I wrotew a bit of book one of my novel, Hatchling, tweaked a short story I'm working on, and posted two pontificating entries on here. But, I've been slack, really. Hatchling is getting to the pointy end. I've spent the first half setting things us and now it's time for everything to go bang! I think I'm a bit afraid of what I'll end up starting.

I managed to do five hundred word sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday---Friday and Monday being kinda busy days.

Sometimes something I'm writing "takes flight," and I'm effortlessly doing stretches of a thousand words or more, often on my "busy days" as well. This piece I'm working on isn't one of those---it's been an effort to get anything down on screen.

If the barest of words count, then yes. I have tinkered with writing things, submissions and such, intros, a little editing, but has been a tough season at work, but heading into the slow time, or at least less hectic so I see the words and time coming around as this weeks progress.

Proofed my hardcopy book and that was enough this week. Good news is that it's done and now I have another to do.

No writing at all so far. I did think up two story ideas and noted them down for later.

Usually, when I get a concept, I will note it down first so I don't forget it, then write it out roughly.
For the first time of my life I have let a story stew in my mind. I had a fight scene that was interesting and over the past two weeks, I have thought about it and am buidling a story around it. I have the main scenes developed in my mind. Of course, I will have to write it sometime or it is simply fantisizing.
I like this story and it might be the start of a series.
