And now for the final Did You Write of 2012.

It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

Apparently I was determined to take this year out with a bang. I've been working away at Unmasked all week (because I take vacation from the day job to write more) and it's been going very well. my total for the last week was 42,566. [Embarrassed] This brings the manuscript to 60,210. Not finished, but a significant way through, somewhat over halfway I think. It's always hard for me to tell and I'm wrong so often I've given up guessing.

I've also been working on a short story for a collaborative project I was invited to take part in. That won't go up until at least late February, but I wanted to get started building it early at least. Then I ended up writing the very beginning. I won't be turning my full attention to it until I finish Unmasked though. Too wrapped up in that story at the moment to care about much else.

Beyond that, I had another couple of story ideas, and I'm still pondering what to do with my finished shorts (and when). Time will tell on that, but obviously nothing until 2013. [Big Grin]

Also a few blog posts written and posted.

That's it for me, rounding out the year. How about you? Did you write?

-Julie

Not as much as usual, but I did write. Mostly revisions to a potential WotF story and to the first few chapters of MAGE STORM.

Also, a crit and two blog posts.

Fiddled around this last week. Worked on a non-fiction book outline and fiddled with a rewrite. I also wrote treatments for a new novel series. Altogether less than a thousand words, I guess. Next week is the New Year and reaching my writing goals will probably yield the equivalent of 500,000 words in 2013.

I re-wrote most of one short story I started two weeks ago -- Caitlin and decided, on the spur of the moment, to submit another short story to an anthology, it's titled Bloodletting. I started that on Sunday, have written 2200 words so far and have to submit it before the end of January. Hmm, have I bitten off more than I can chew?

Phil.

Somewhat better...did five hundred words Saturday and five hundred more this morning. Had an idea for another story but am still chewing on it before writing anything down. And I hope to work (at last) on that story that's finished-except-for-song-lyrics that I've mentioned several times 'round here.

Wanted to wait until I was finished for the day before posting.
Got work done on my NaNo novel. Finished the first of the two added chapters. split it into two. Started what is now the third one of the final chapters. 2100 words today.

Revised chapter one of Two Struggles...I believe it will be the last revision for that chapter.

Revised a story, and wrote a mini story-285 words. Revised that story, now 296 words. It's a longer version of my fifty word HM.

Critted a couple of stories.

Did various posts on two forums, write three openings for Dean's online workshop--decided to finish each story. They are all about the same girl--she does have a bad habit of getting very lost.

Wrote a letter to the editor for my local paper. They published it at least two days earlier than usual.

and a post or three Here including one with a link to my letter.

This year has not been spectacular. I stopped on my IDEA A DAY postings with my accident in April.

I did get to "the end" on DEMON'S LURE" for a second time. It is now at page 21, with 10205 words. It still needs a couple more passes, but it is better than the first rough draft. I have more of a story.
My writing partner rewrote one of my stories to make it fit into a targeted publication. She found out that it needs to be shorter so she is re-writing it now. That MIGHT see publication this year. We will have to see.

I did write and submit another story and got word it needs a heavy editor. That was the last I heard about it. I read it over a couple weeks ago before I sent it to someone and it was all I could do to keep my hands off the keyboard to make corrections.

I hope to have three stories published this year, and three more written, sequels. I do not know if I will restart the story ideas again. I should block out that time and actually write. An hour or two a day would make a big difference.

Had to work though the holidays, but I did make it through edits on chapter 12 (5,890 words cut to 5,612) on book 3 in my sci fi series. I want to finish in 20 chapters, so terror fills me that I have only 8 chapters left to finish book 3. It keeps my writing tight to set limits. Chapter 13 should be fun as my protagonist it going to get into really BIG trouble. Love doing that to her . . . my bad. Need to take another 2 wk writer's vacation. New Years goal is to look into Amazon's Creat Space, just for fun. Any feed back on them from anyone would be welcome. Since new to this group will see if I can get my new paranormal romance first thirteen lines out for review - for a 2nd New Year's goal.
