It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

I spent the week editing the short story I wrote the previous week, which has to be ready to post by March 1st. I sent that to a couple of people for feedback, which has been overwhelmingly positive. [Eek!] After getting my ego back under control, I set about doing an out loud edit of my novella, which I finished yesterday. Debating the next steps on that one. I made some notes for my next novel and also did up a crit for a friend of a short story.

I also made a few posts on my blog and had a few ideas for new stories.

That's it for me. How about you? Did you write?

Yes. I finished the final revision to THE BARD'S GIFT. I should still do a polishing edit, but I need to give it a little bit of a rest, first.

I've actually started a new short story (maybe novella, we'll see where it goes). I really need to let my imagination out to play and let the infernal--I mean, internal--editor take a little vacation.

Also, a couple of crits and two blog posts.

I tried an experiment. I accquired a small notebook, and have been scribbling random lines of nonsense-verse in it while sitting here at my computer. I've been stuck on that poem / song lyric---it's the only thing holding up the story now---and I was hoping doing this would loosen up things. I've accumulated a dozen or so pages of it, twenty-four lines to a page, and shortly I'll go back through it and look for particularly striking rhymes and imagery.

Meanwhile, an idea emerged out of my subconscious mind...a bounce off a story, a finished story but not set out 'cause of plagiarizing some of the central imagery in it. It's a certain "what comes next" idea---and, also, I think I can change that plagiarized imagery and make the new story work without it. I'll also be working on that shortly.

Also meanwhile, I think I'll carry on with the nonsense verse stuff...it fills time while I'm waiting for Web pages to download...

Another 12,000 words this week on my novel. I'm now in the mid-60's and hope to finish it off by the next Did You Write?

Tweaked one of my self-pubbed novel covers.

added only a thousand words this week.
My big battle was not happening. I backed up and made some changes based on notes suggested by my writing partner. That got characters where they needed to be for the activity to be logical.

Last night, after shutting down the compuuter, I came up with how the big battle will conclude.

Yep I did.

All kinds of short stories. Including three flash trying for a 200 word contest. Finally got one under 200-including title. Plus a couple of short stories of normal length.

One crit, I believe. Some posts here, on another forum and Google+.

I think that's it.
