Has anyone here read any Jack Woodford? Jerry Pournelle gave him some high praise on a tech show I listen to, so I looked him up. Apparently Pournelle, Bradbury, and Heinlein say he kickstarted their careers.
He wrote pulp fiction and screenplays in the 30s, 40s and 50s and a few books on writing, Trial and Error being the most famous. I read Plotting for Every Kind of Writing.
His writing advice is formulaic in the extreme and he presents a cynical view of writing in general. But he's extremely entertaining and informative, regarding writing and cultural history.
Anyone here read his work or have any thoughts on him?

I've heard quite a bit about his writing and writing advice...but, to my knowledge, I've never read anything he wrote.
