It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

Still struggling to get writing done, but this time largely due to some major personal issues going on. Sigh.

Things got better toward the end of the week though. 1700 words on a short story that's almost done and 4565 on a new novel, one that's speaking to me a lot more than my NaNo project. Vintage isn't at my usual level of readiness before I start writing, but I'm going with it. Maybe it'll work out anyway. At least I'm writing.

That's it for me. How about you? Did you write?

Twiddled a bit with two stories I'll need choose between for Q1 and Q2 WOTF. Awaiting any last critiques from those who have kindly offered them.

Researched, organized, and wrote a 3300 word detailed story outline for a possible collaboration with the gracious and talented Nick T yesterday.

As for today....hmm, what shall I pick up next?

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

Yes, I wrote. Some on my rewrite of DREAMER'S ROSE and some on my rewrite of THE SHAMAN'S CURSE. (Seems to be rewrite season.)

Also, a couple of crits and two blog posts.

Nah. Did a little, Wednesday and Thursday...and Thursday I had to break off before I even completed my usual five hundred words a session. I'm not seeing much of where I should go from here.

I guess it's time to dig out one of the shorter stories I've written this past year, or maybe all of them, and see if I can still make anything of them...

I got to THE END on a story. It really sucks, but I have a good framework there to work from.
I had fought my way through several problems and a few comments by my writing partner indirectly gave me the clues to solve those problems and I like the results.
Now for the hard part. Getting dread, fear, and such into the story so it will be interesting. Adding that stuff will bring the word count up to where it needs to be.

Yeah, I wrote. Three science fiction short stories (two of them will probably end up being novella length), a flash story, and a young adult novella. I'd probably be more productive if I were to pick just one story to work on instead of bouncing from story to story on what seems like an hourly basis, but my ADD has been causing and then I treated myself to buffalo wings for lunch. Added about 10K words to Digby Collier over the week, which currently stands at 26K. This is a problem as my aim is to come in at about 65K words, about the same as TREASURE ISLAND; that's already big for an upper middle grade story; I should be looking to get down closer to 50K, so I'm going to have to cut.
