It is as good a time as any for this note.

As to the question of what is writing, it can be anything, new words, of course, editing, rewriting, removing words to make word counts, blog posts, BB posts, even E-mails can be writing if they are wordy and pertain to story or writing. It is up to you to decide what counts or not.

To date, other than opening my work in process and adding a couple words before closing it, the only writing I do is the wood working diary (In the old days, I never even counted that). this last week's diary was extra wordy with 277 words.

I have the problem where life and health gets in the way of most of my writing. I got a tablet for Christmas and knew instantly they are not good for writing. convenient, but not useful. Keyboards and other things disappear with the wrong move. I did see in a catalog that there was a tablet that comes with a keyboard. One might be able to write with that as it would be easy to carry around. Anybody rich who can give me one? If you ignore all those incidents, I am a good boy......

I am getting back into my wood working after a long absence and have to re-teach my muscle memory. I am learning to do it right this time.

that got me thinking on a story concept. an old master of some kind has to start over, possibly having become a youngster again, and has to teach his body to do what was natural before. Now the old master gets to teach the body to do it right, not develop all the bad habits of before. If this is a magician or fighter, could become greater than ever before.

As to the question of the week,
I will say Yes I wrote, sort of.

Yes. Still working on the first draft of WAR OF MAGIC. Some days it feels like I'll never finish this one.

Well, yes. In my head. I'm still working through a response to extrinsic's thread in this forum--"Hot on the trail." It's sort of consumed my attention for the last couple of weeks. A written response is only days away--I hope.

Phil.

Nope. *Still* down and out far as writing goes. I'd hoped to get back to something by now but it's been one thing or another. Time to break out the bag of writer's-block-breaking tricks...

I joined an online RPG in the hopes that it would get me into more regular writing habits. While I've definitely been doing more writing as a result, it gives me less time to work on anything productive.

Haven't done much in the way of 'real' writing lately. I'm in between stories at the moment and am trying to fix that, but that just means I'm at the brainstorming stage with about five different projects and have no idea which one I actually want to proceed with yet. [Confused]

Keep brainstorming, Disgruntled Peony. At some point, as you develop the stories, one of them will grab hold of your brain and not let go until you get it written.

This may happen with more than one story, and it may involve only part of each story.

Go ahead and write the parts that demand to be written (you'll probably have to rewrite them later, but rewriting can be easier than producing new stuff, so don't worry about it).

Just keep at it.

yes, had to rewrite a chapter 1 to a novel realising I had made a mistake in weapon logistics in a major fight. Weapon was in the wrong place for the wrong reason. None of my readers or editor had noticed. It came to me while I was just staring off into space this week. Had to rewrite two pages of combat. Luckily that novel was not ready for publish. FFFeeewww! Close call.

Still world building and doing major research for next novel. Choosing between three major ideas I'm fleshing out.

An old idea I had for a novel I am reworking into a story for WOTF. It was always a strong idea, just never seemed to work in long form. Now I feel I can turn it into probably a 12000-word short story, and feel it has a unique enough premise to even contend in such an arena.

It's funny. Some of my WOTF story submissions from four years ago that I thought were very unique, now technology has almost caught up with. How crazy is that.

W.

Yes. And it has been ages since I can say I actually wrote anything beyond a paragraph or two. Rewrote a couple chapters, pretty much a complete rewrite. But it was worth it, finally got it to flow the way I wanted.

Addendum: I decided to break out by writing a sequel to my last finished story, just starting up where I left off---and, for three days, it went great, the ideas flowing, the writing easy. (Then I came down with a cold over the weekend and things shut down again.)

I don't plan on doing anything much with it---I don't want to make another attempt at a novel that meanders to an indefinite and inconclusive end, like several that died on me along the way---but I've got some ideas coming that might be useful elsewhere.
